I just read this on Corriere della Sera (Jan. 2010), regarding Italian salaries compared to the rest of Europe:
"...In terms of equal buying power the salary of an Italian worker, single and with no children, is equal to $30,245...
...in the classification which ranks net salary, equal to $21,374 for an Italian,...
...when taking into account the absolute salary values: $35,571 gross for the average Italian worker..."
