Neil Peart doing solo dedicated to Buddy Rich:

He builds into another Buddy style solo. Wait for it.

And then just rocking:

I like that he is a master at many styles.

This is an ultra-musical solo, and Jo Jones never loses his smile through it:

Simon Phillips, awesome drum sound as well. If you ever see him live, very hard to take your eyes off him and watch any other band members.

A few of my faves: Bill Bruford (w/King Crimson) Omar Hakim (w/Bobby McFerrin) Max Roach Manu Katché (w/Jan Garbarek) Chad Wackerman (w/Allan Holdsworth) Jack Dejohnette Terry Bozzio (Zappa's "The Black Page") Tony Williams Props to the others previously name-checked in this thread—esp. Ginger Baker, after whom my cat is named.

Maybe not the best ever, which is highly subjective... but without these guys you woudn't have had the likes of Baker, Bohnam, Moon etc and their followers...note also the sartorial standard upheld

Also not too shabby, Joe Morello. Solo from 2:10...

These are wonderful. I had seen the GK and BR one before but never the Joe Morello. I love that tasteful intro.

Boy, do we have similar taste in drummers. Gavin Harrison is my favorite rock drummer today, and my favorites of all time include Simon Phillips & Mark Brzezicki...both of whom happened to play on Pete Townshend's "All the Best Cowboys..."

For me, there was nothing like seeing Dennis Chambers live. He could play a solo concert and I would be mesmerized.

While not an amazing drummer, Peter Criss' drum solo on 100,000 Years - KISS Alive! is pretty fantastic.

I am really not really all that in to drums, but I remember the first time my friend played 'Ina Gada Da Vida' I always thought the solo on it was pretty sick.
