There's batshit crazy and there's delusional/fraud. Sometimes it's hard to distinguish the two at early stages.

You might mistaken the role of different parties: sell-side analyst's job is to generate trades, buy-side analysts job is to generate ideas on returns, corporate executives job is to enhance shareholder interests.
Sometimes sell-side guys become corporate executives and some Corp exec move to buy-side.
p.s., sometimes Corp exec mistaken their self interest for shareholder interest...
