I am staying the course with my investments. I am diversified with 20% bonds, 50% US Market, 20% Int'l Market, 10% REIT. I will adjust in July to this same allocation as some positions will have more weight than I want and some with less. This strategy has solid history and performance to it but you always hear the past is no predictor of the future in the market.

The market can't decide what a good result is.

I'm probably just repeating things I've said before, but with a company like FB "results" in the traditional sense are almost irrelevant. The market for online/mobile revenue is changing so quickly that results from a recently-completed quarter are of limited utility in evaluating what lies ahead in the coming quarter or year. When McDonald's demontrates, say, steady growth in same-store revenues and in profits, it's a pretty good sign they're executing well on their medium/long term strategy. With Facebook and such: not so much.

(Just my two cents, of course. And I have yet to become independently wealthy on the strength of my own investment skills, so what do I know?)

I think you're right. Its a moving target.

Luckily its made up the losses. I'm even at 51.50.

Congrats. Glad I'm not holding any, it would drive me nuts trying to figure out market reactions on this one . . .

Generally speaking, it has been my impression that the market has had expectations well beyond average estimates for the past couple years.

If they did not feel the need to advertise a tapering, likely a correction would be minimal, but I think we'll see plenty of over-reaction when it comes due to the fear of not reacting,

I day-traded on margin today and held a position for maybe 2-3 minutes, tops, and came out on top.

Was pretty pleased with myself so I attempted a second hand at it. Came out on the bottom.

:fu:

The adrenaline rush you get is insane. Not good for your emotional health, at all.

Goddamn greed got the best of me. I should have walked away after my first position. ******* hell.

I know what you mean. I never traded on margin but I can see how the nerves would get to you. I remember a trip to the bathroom without setting a stop loss cost me a couple hundred dollars.

My mistake was establishing my second position near closing bell. I felt the added pressure to sell before close, and plus, you typically get the profit-takers at the end of the day.

Lesson learned.

I was amazed at how quickly I got to the point where I felt absolutely zero in the moment.

Now I'll feel some dull sense of pride when I've had a couple good weeks in a row or incredible frustration when it goes the other way but the adrenaline is gone. I'll still feel a bad loss (and Paul Tudor Jones tells me that's essential, though I wish it weren't) especially one where I broke my rules. But you either get to the point where it's mechanical or you blow up or burn out.
