Wow idfnl, you were right, did a little digging on Alcoa. They beat estimates with 10c EPS...that's less than 100M net rev. Cash flow looking ugly too.

Ya, they cant compete. Give the CEO credit for keeping the train running this long but it will go the way of the steel industry eventually.

Good news is this is a nice way to start earnings season, even though its a hollow win.

good to see these financials coming back to earth after the insane run since jan, i think theres still more downward movement to go post earnings.

RIM or Nokia?? Both are battling for number 3 right now. I think I'm going to go with Nokia.

Too many probs with the Lumina or whatever.

And Euros seem to be dropping Nokia since they dropped SymbianOS.

interesting to see market up today, kind of guessed it'd be flat ahead of earnings. Although volume is light which may be the reason. jobless claims rose, mortgages at record lows, foreclosures up.

Let's talk about Gamestop. GME. The customers and general video gaming community hate this company. Many feel forced to shop there only because they need something specific that big boxes like BBY won't carry. There's a rumor going around that the next generation Playstation and X-Box won't allow you to play used games, which would put a serious dent in GME's profits.

GO!

dont think gamestop has much growth, but a store like that conitnue being in demand until games go fully through the net. big mistake i think for sony and microsoft not allowing for used games

Streaming games only?? That's a lot of bandwidth.

not streaming but available for download. still lots of bandwidth needed, but companies could sell direct vs giving a cut to middleman and creating and shipping all those titles.

Yeah I think game stop is still good for a year or two though since sites like Steam and such don't really work that well and have a bunch of issues. You have to account for the adoption rate of digital download as well takes a while for the whole country to get into that style. We're all coasties looking at this. Used games wise they are already starting to implement some incentives to encourage buyers to buy new as well now but that hasn't affected gamestop much.

Me too. I was expecting a flat day... perfect, I had a chance to lighten up and did. Sold my ABB. Fucking AIG boys... told you! $33.

Decent GOOG earnings. Can anyone explain this split bullshit they are proposing? Where is the "dividend" in it?
