EARH. An interesting penny stock that looks like it could be fun to play with.

So AT&T is buying T-Mobile. Let's say the government allows this to happen. Would VZ be able to buy S?
I was under the apparent mistaken impression that the gov would not allow T, VZ to buy up these smaller companies.

If T isn't allowed to buy T-Mobile, T-Mobile still gets 3 Billion and Spectrum from T. Crazy deal, but I think enough people feel it will go through. After doing some reading today I don't think VZ would be allowed to buy S.

It looks like about a 65% chance that it will go through.

No surprise that BAC's dividend hike was blocked, while WFC and JPM among other healthy banks were allowed to. Hopefully we're looking at 2.5% from them by year end (would be nice!) or 30% of earnings.

Took a little time to look at my overall retirement portfolio (401k + roth IRA) and did some rebalancing.

Since I sold off my VFINX holdings from my IRA, I bumped up the institutional class shares in the 401k and moved around the balances/future contributions to cut out some managed funds for lower fee index funds with similar coverage (the fund lineup has changed since I opened it since wachovia was acquired by wells fargo).

took the proceeds from dumping VFINX and topping off the 2010 contribution limit and doubled my holdings in Vodaphone and Vestas since I didn't think I had enough international exposure from the available 401k funds.

The remainder was used to bolster the REIT fund I hold.

Think I will work up a google docs sheet that ties my holdings across accounts to the fund prices (like ghetto capitalIQ) and produces sums by type so that rebalancing is easier

I like the REIT idea, they're pouring out dividends lately, but I'm uncertain of how sustainable it is.

I bought more GE, WFC, BAC during the japan downturn.

I bought Apple at about $20 a share. Current ideas? Oh, none.

I'll give you at least $30 for it.

Fine fine, you drive a hard bargain--$40, double your money

High $200s. I'm happy.

I'd love to repeat that kind of performance again. When I bought it I thought Apple to be a good investment ... but I never dreamed it would be that good.

PS: I am not a Warren.

Good for you. I actually have a video of my neice getting out of the car, going over to the Enron sign, and kicking it. I can, however, see why you might have hugged it.

I wish all my purchases were as stellar. But ... I have a few buy and hold disasters too ... mostly from years back.

Of course, now that I'm at "retirement age" ... I've moved over to mostly income producing real estate holdings.
