I wouldn't serve the Charles Shaw to guests (probably just because it's so cheap and everyone knows it's so cheap), but I think it's just fine to drink at home. I don't know all that much about wine though. I don't taste a noticeable difference between it and other bottles that cost <$10. For example, something like Yellow-Tail, which seems to be the ubiquitous cheap wine, costs like $8 a bottle . Go ahead and make some jokes about getting ranch with it, or paper napkins.
