Yeah, it's not that out of character for Superman to surrender like that without a real fight. I just don't like the idea of the reboot making one of the major plot points being the US government's distrust and fear of him. Doesn't sit right with me. Superman's his best as a symbol for hope and trust. Framing him as such is the only way that you can make the occasional "darker" stories about the character compelling.
We're going to have to wait and see if that is the main plot, that might just be a small part of it or it could be like Hancock where he is imprisoned until he s finally needed (when Zod arrives?).
They have been pretty tight lipped on this film and I really have no idea where it is going and so far I do not have any strong feelings towards liking or hating this film yet. The trailer that comes with the Hobbit should be interesting if they show more clips than the very short preview they officially released. It’ll likely be very similar to the Comic-Con trailer, which would be nice to see in high quality.
