Allergy to rubber luggage?

I recently had some allergy tests done because I was breaking out in a rash almost every week. The only thing that I had a response to was in the family of rubber. I asked if rubber soles on my shoes could of caused the reaction but the doctor said probably not as it would have had to either come in contact with my skin or ingested. After looking at the main bag (American Tourist brand) I use for work travel I noticed that it is flaking in the interior and is actually is made of some rubber material and not leather as I thought. Now I am thinking that this could be getting in my clothes and making me get this rash. Any thoughts on if this sounds possible?

Also where can I get a real leather or non-rubber bag for a decent price?

What happens when you use condoms?

Wow, I guess that's possible. It's probably polyurethane coated fabric for water resistance. Maybe you should go to Tumi nylon or something similar.

chances are that is the culprit. as someone who gets severe allergic reactions, i wish that doesnt happen again.

Thanks for the help. Do you think I could buy a decent size Tumi bag for not much more than $100?

No, you'd have to triple that or even more. Tumi is the priciest ballistic nylon on the market.

Not sure where you are located, but you might try Craigslist for pretty good deals on used luggage. Maybe a search here on luggage could get you some other good brand names to look for.

I see now that American Tourister also makes ballistic luggage. This one looks like a pretty good deal at $79.99. The MSRP was $250.
