Boots in a similar vein as John Varvatos but significantly cheaper?

I really dig the boots that John Varvatos puts out, but frankly they're too pricey for me. Any recommendations on boots in a similar vein for much cheaper (think $150 or less)??

Have you tried the mall stores such as Aldo, Zara, H&M?

Out of curiousity, are you saying it's worth the investment to throw down $500-$700 on a solid pair of boots? Did that with my jeans and very happy with the decision...

@WJ4, yes, I find most of them are lacking in any sort of character whatsoever. a couple of decent pairs, but really nothing special that has stood out thus far.

If you have the means, then yes. In undergrad, I wore Clarks DB's, Banana Republic Chukkas, etc. Now I'm addicted to Aldens and Lanvins.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned All Saints boots. The look a lot like something Varvatos would pump out and they tend to go on sale for around $150. But quality is poor so don't ever pay full price for this brand. Am I the only one whom thinks All Saints sucks? It feels like a Euro-loser attempt at merging JCrew and Forever21. The blatant design rip-offs of Forever21. And the poor quality + high prices + always on sale concept of JCrew.

OP, good boots are absolutely worth saving up for, to a greater extent than jeans are.

I think their overall attitude and company strategy is pretty sucky and vile, but I've liked some individual pieces I've seen, especially for the price.

my advice, maybe try walmart. you can buy shoes, potato chips and tires all at the same place. makes perfect sense to me. good luck.
