Seriously. Some places in NYC take rezzys a year in advance for Valentine's Day. And NYC is so cliche. Problem is, $300/two is probably about going to be tops for him right now, and even Cafe Bouloud is doing a $175 dinner. I think French/New American would probably be best, rather than Italian, as she avoids the pastas as a rule. Fish would probably be ok. Because of the timing and cost issues, it doesn't have to be a big name restaurant; a cute neighborhood place would be fine -- my two first throughts were closed since I've been (La Metairie, and Rene Pujol).
