Just received the pile zip-in liner from Orvis, for my Bedale. Goodness this thing is warm.

I'm a 40R also. Does the Bedale fit snug? I'm looking to buy one for somewhat cold climate. I'll maybe wear with a light sweater or liner. Should I get a 38 or 40? I don't have anywhere close to try one on. Thanks.

No, the Bedale does not fit snug. If you plan on making it your cold-weather coat, it's imperative that you buy the pile liner.

thinking about replacing my classic olive Bedale with a navy Ashby or a SL Bedale for a slimmer fit.

anyone know if the Ashby or SL Bedale can add liners in it?

I'd suggest getting the new Argon. I posted a photo of me wearing mine a few posts back. It is both warmer and slimmer than the bedale.

Hi everybody, I wonder if you can help me. I'm thinking about getting a Barbour (it would be my first one!) and I'm considering the Bedale, the Beaufort and even the Border. I would be using it mainly for walking my dogs in the woods and countryside and so on, so I don't need anything snug, I want something comfortable. I'm a girl, I'm 5'4", my weight is 123,42 lb (gosh, I feel like a Miss World contestant! :-D) and my chest size is 35"; I'm saying this because I'm browsing through ebay (I find there are quite a few items in pretty good shape) and I wouldn't mind getting a man's jacket, if it fits. So here's the question: considering my measurements, do you think I could fit the smaller men' sizes or would I drown in them? Thanks for your help!

I was looking at this Bedale, the seller is italian and he says the jacket fits an italian size 42-44 (I think in American sizes this would be size 8-10). Do you think it's true? This is a picture of the label, it says it's a C42/107cm

Just bought the new Argon jacket from the Polo line.
Very similar to the bedale but slimmer fit and quilted lining rather than tradition tartan lining. I rewaxed it the day I bought it because I dont like how dry the sylkoil finish feels to me. Due to that, the jacket looks closer to black than navy. This is a navy jacket with a dark chocolate brown moleskin collar. The inside of the collar, which touches your neck, is made of corduroy. For your reference, this jacket is a size small. I have a 35" chest and 34" arms. This jacket fits me MUCH better than the bedale or beaufort simply because it is cut slimmer and has much longer arms.
Did you find this in-store? If so, where pray-tell? Looks like a very fine jacket sir, and I can't find it on the US website...

That's going to be way too big on you. I'm a 38" chest and swim in my 38 Gamefair. Look at children's listings. Those are usually cheaper and you can probably find on that fits by referencing size charts online.

I'd start with a 36 and size down accordingly. The 42 would be way too big on you.

Yes, I found this originally at the Georgetown store but found out that both NYC stores have it also. I ordered it online from Countryattire though because it saved me about $100. This jacket is also made in Olive for a more classic look. Great jacket though.

That looks like normal English sizing. I'm not sure how you are measuring your chest, but I'm assuming that you are measuring over your breasts and not under it, like you would for a bra, if so, I would probably start with the 34. My chest measures 38" and I went with a 36" and there is still a little room. I have pictures of myself in my Beaufort earlier in the thread. If I were a woman though, I would probably go with the women's version instead as they're probably cut better for a woman's figure.

I also have a 35'' chest, and I went with a Bedale in size 34". Go a few pages back and take a look at my fitpic.

I'm sure your proportions are objectionable or comical to someone, keep it to yourself.
