I only walk when its cold (its too hot to walk in the morning now so I take the bus), but I kind of walk fast. My office moved and is now 3 mils from my apt and it takes me 33 mins to get there but at 2 miles it took me about 22 mins.

I also dont really get cold in my torso area its my hands (due to really poor circulation)

It sounds like you walk pretty damn fast. When the trains were down here after Sandy, it took my about 40 minutes to walk 2.75 miles and I consider myself a fast walker too.

Yea im not messing around. (I hate public transportation when there is a better and healthier option) The best are when I walk home fast and then go right back out for a 5 mile run.

Hey gents. Can anyone chime in on the relation between Barbour's S/M/L/XL and their chest sizing /38/40/42. Specifically I'm looking at an International. One retailer has one sizing method and the other uses a different method.

In a nut shell, wuld the 40 jacket be the same as a M if they are both internationals?

I think the M would be closest to a 40, although I'm not sure.

I own a Beaufort in 40, A7 in 38 and two other Barbours in M.

Generally the ones I have in M are more similar to the 40. I went with the 38 on the A7 because I like the International to be quite slim fitting, and I'm usually a 42/43 in suits/SCs.

Also, beware, I think the English made jackets are sized with chest size, and the ones that are not are sized with letters.

I got one from End pretty much right when they went up, since I feared they might sell out super fast. It seems they are still being lusted ater but End isn't selling out.

It is my first Barbour but it is very slim up in the top half and slightly trim in the body/waist. I have 18" shoulders, 39.5" chest, 36" waist, and I am about 175-180 lbs. and 5'7". I'm stocky and the shoulders are pretty fit on me but not too much to where I can't move. I could also stand to lose a few pounds so theres that.

Here is an album of fit pics. Keep in mind I am short so that's why the sleeves are too long. I spent too much on it to take it to any tailor (since I don't have a trusted one) and I am not spending all that money to send it back to Barbour to just the sleeves up an inch.

I have a concaved chest (sternum) so the chest fits me fine, but across the back the M is somewhat tight when moving the arms up and forward, especially simultaneously. I really do have big shoulders for my height so I just deal with having clothes that fit tighter in that area rather than trying to size up, because everything ends up too long.

I received my first waxed jacket today, Ashby in olive Sylkoil. I'd been completely ignoring casual outerwear for a while in my #menswear hubris, but I've come to my senses now. I can't take the dog out in the forest wearing a sleek mac without looking completely out of place.

Absolutely, samadhi. One of the best investments you will make - and actually a pretty sound one of that. Get a liner too. And don't worry about the arms.

Just make us one promise. Give it some outdoor use, not just in the city wear. This is where you can really feel, the quality and usefulness of your investment.

Anyone have pics of a Barbour Beaufort with the hood attachment on and up over the head?

Can't seem to find pics anywhere of how this site with the collar, and on the head.

That said, I just picked up a Beaufort in Black - Amazing jacket. Much heavier than my Sapper - also solved two of my big complaints w/ the Sapper. The first being no hand pockets. The second a hopefully usable hood. I despise the Sapper's hood; looks clownish. (does the job in a tough spot though).

Ashby versus Bedale with lengthened sleeves?

I want to by a jacket in the Bedale style, but I have long arms and the 40 which fits me comfortably is too short in the sleeves by about 2 inches.

I'm considering the Ashby in large, which should be similar in size with possibly slightly longer sleeves.

The problem is that I live in Ireland and have not found a stockist who carries the Ashby.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Get the Bedale and ship it off to Barbour before you wear it?

My Beuafort in 40 is too short in the sleeves as well. I am going to ship it to them in a few weeks time.

I also have long arms, and I sent it back to the barbour factory. Back when I sent it in, it was $60 to lengthen sleeves, although I think the price is higher now.

I currently have my bedale at the factory as I type this and the backlog is 8-10 weeks.

Sent my Beaufort to Barbour for a re-wax and to repair a few wear spots around the cuffs. I think they did a great job - reinforced the cuffs both around the hole & up the sleeve a bit. These photos make it more noticeable than in person. The sleeves were repaired identically, which really helps the repairs to blend.
