Wow, $140, what a steal!!

The fit is perfect in my opinion.  I thought it would be a little tighter since it is one size smaller than my "winter" Bedale SL but this new one doesn't have... how do I say this in English? Lining? Not having it makes it bigger, loser so it fits great to wear with a shirt and even a light sweater.

Sizes in Spain are different in regards to suits so I really have no idea the equivalent but I wear a 52 size jackets (sometimes a size 50 depending on who makes them). On my regular casual jackets I wear a size M but if it is a peacoat I use a size L.

Anyways, I hope this helps.

Sorry for the delay answering your questions.

Does anyone have any experience with tailoring Barbour jackets? I'd like to have the sleeves on my commander slimmed and I'm wondering if there's anything I should look out for.

Just send it to Barbour in NH or UK.

Barbour only alters the sleeve and body length, they won't slim them. Not that I'd want to do that without being in person anyway. I'm just curious if a decent tailor will be able to handle to the job, I've read a few times that Barbour's shouldn't be altered due to the way they're constructed.

That's not true. In regards to the commander at least. I've spoken to a rep in NH. They'll do it but you have to provide measurements.

I'm far from a decent tailor and slimmed my Barbour Chelsea at the sides easily and it came out perfect.

Well when I emailed Barbour UK they said they could only alter the length. Anyway it doesn't seem like there's anything special about the jacket that would prevent alterations except maybe compromising the weather proofing.

In any case thanks for the advice.

Yeah the reason Barbour warns you about taking it to outside alterations is because of their "special waxed thread" that weatherproofs the seams. I am pretty much positive that is marketing bullshit. You'll void the warranty if you have a non-Barbour tailor work on it though.
