I came across an comparison of the Trooper, Cowen Commando and Sapper that might be of interest:

I do like the Cowen Commando jacket but I already have a flyweight Sapper so I have the military style/field jacket covered.

Hi, I am new to the forum. I was wondering if I could please get some advice regarding the fit of the Barbour Ashby. I usually fit a size 40 sports jacket. According to the End Clothing website this is a size M in the Ashby. Usually I would be hesitant to buy an M in a jacket as the sleeve length would most likely be too short for me (I am reasonably tall - about 6'3" - and have broad shoulders) but according to the End website the sleeve length for the Ashby is the same for sizes M - XXL.

Is anyone able to confirm this?

Additionally, is anyone able to comment on the general fit of the Ashby ie whether sizing runs large or small? I am unsure whether the M is likely to fit too snugly.

Any observations would be greatly appreciated. Unfortunately I live overseas so do not have the luxury of trying on the jacket before I buy it.

I am 5'9", 158 lbs with 16.5" shoulders and a 39" chest, and the medium in the Ashby fits me great. It's a nice trim fit but with enough room for layering underneath. The arms also fit great in length. Thankfully, I had one local to try on because like you I was planning to size down to a small. I can definitely wear the small, but it's too restrictive in the chest and leaves no room for a sweater underneath. It's just too small.

Given my fit and experience, I would think that you would be a large in the Ashby. I believe the sleeves and overall length of the medium would be too short for you, and the chest would perhaps be too snug. You want it to fit trim and more modern than the Bedale, but it's still an equestrian jacket and isn't supposed to be too snug as let's say the commander. Maybe others have a different opinion, but I would try the large first (and buy from somewhere that allows returns/exchanges). Good luck!

Before you get your hopes up, note that End doesn't ship Barbour outside the EU anymore.
They'll let you select your country and add your address but when you get to final checkout you'll get this:
You appear to have Barbour products in your shopping basket.
These products are not available for shipment to an address outside the EU.

FWIW, the End measurements for the XL are pretty close to the one I got at least in the chest.
Sleeves are relatively short given the size. I didn't compare the sleeve measurements.
Measurements for the Ashby on Barbour.com are not accurate.

How does the Bedale compare to the Chelsea sportsquilt or Powell quilted jacket? Tried on a friend's Bedale and the short arms on the medium fit me perfectly (I'm 5'9 with a muscular build so usually need something with a roomy build and short lengths), but the measurements on End seem very different between the different models?

Hi,

anyone able to help me and explain/ shine some light on the Landrover series jackets?

Are there any differences to the normal wax jackets at all? Are they only "Landrover" branded, but share the same fit and layout and design like a SL Bedale, Bristol, or which one?

Anyone? Would be great to better understand if they differ in fit, etc.?
