Only two royal warrants on the inner tag would make this in the 82-87 range, I think.

That jacket fits you perfectly man. The Border jacket replaced the Gamefair (which i currently own from the late 70s early 80s). The cut of these jackets is supposed to be on the longer side to protect you from the elements; the bagginess is part of their appeal. Think peacoat compared to an overcoat.

I'm sure your wife has more pull than I do, but I would keep it! Especially for $20 icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

can anyone explain the Barbour sizing? I ordered a Chelsea from End and now I'm pissed that their f'g sizes are wonky. What's with the sizing discrepancy of the x-small?

End measurements are messed up for a lot of things.

that's not what I was hoping to hear but I've ordered other things from them before without a problem. Thing is the Orvis size chart for Barbour had the x-small showing a 30-32 inch chest! wtf... no man has a 30" inch chest.

True, I've relied upon End measurements before and they turned out to be correct.
But there have been enough times that the measurements at End just seem a bit off.

I just bought a Bond jacket and the measurements at End are way off, at least for an XL.

Bah, im on the fence between Large and XL in this wool fishing jacket. Im worried the XL will be too big in the body. Im 6'3" so im not worried much about the length. Decisions, decisions...

L chest and shoulder measures 22.5 and 19, respectively
XL measures 24 and 19.5, respectively

I take a Large in the Scott Bracken and it fits snug (with long sleeve shirt) with the liner. damnit im torn.

.... leaning towards the large in the wool fishing jacket as it doesnt appear to have the removable lining

I posted this in the Barbour International forum, without response, so I'm reposting here:

I'm interested in getting this the way Philip Crangi's wearing it. First of all, is it even the International? I know he's wearing a vintage one, but is it a discontinued style or am I right in assuming it's the Internaltional? Second, what size should I get? I'd like to wear it slim like he's wearing it, but I plan on wearing it onto the colder months here in NC, which means I'd be wearing a shirt and a cardi underneath. I'm a 38 in suits, but I've measured, and my chest actually measures 39". Also, I'm positive he had it altered to skim the hips. I'm 5'7", so I wondering if I'd have to have it altered, and where, if that's the case.

Thanks in advance for the input.

My chest measures 43''. I'm swimming in a size 42'', size 40'' fits me well with room to layer lightly. A 38'' would be SF approved fit with room for only a t shirt.

The international is a bit boxy with slightly long, billowy sleeves.

I hope this helps...

FWIW, I just received an Ashby from End. I ordered based on the measurements they had listed.
After I ordered, I saw the measurements listed at Barbour which were way different and I was a bit worried.
Turns out the End measurements were correct.

Measurements are still f'd up for the Bond jacket though.

I inquired about measurements for a medium size international barbour and the end guy on chat said he would take my email, measure an actual jacket and get back to me. He got back to me. I was impressed that he did nt just rattle off measurements.
