I'm also looking at them. I really like the simplicity of it, and the venting look. I'd like to try one on though.

Went and saw one today in J Crew in NYC ($500). Thought it was great so bought it from Stuarts London and having it shipped to NY for free. In the UK they come to $350.

And their English appears to be OK as well.

It's better than promising.  I promise.

One thing to look for if you're unsure the site is legitimate or not is the method of payment. I found one that looked too good to be true back in the Fall, but I started the checkout process anyway just to get an idea. Sure enough the method of payment was to be a money order. Huge red flag. Again though, and I don't want to sound harsh but, the fake sites largely look like obvious fakes for various reasons such as their pricepoint and inventory levels. In fact put both together and it's even more obvious.  That's not to mention Barbour's site listing probably 99% of the fake sites.

With the fit and quality being all over the place buying at B&M is a good idea.

There is a store in Lincoln Park. It's small, but they have a pretty good selection. They're opening up a flagship downtown soon.

I too like it, but I'm still rounding out my To Ki To AW12 collection, which I prefer. I'll likely go for the Blast Jacket closer to Fall and chance getting it at markdown. It's IMHO one of the better To Ki To SS13 pieces. Out of curiosity, which color did you go for?

There's many knock-off sites that do take credit cards. Although the transactions are most likely going to appear suspicious, e.g. Chinese gas stations. If the banks are doing their job properly, they should immediately pick-up on this.....especially if one is not in China. Also getting a charge-back for a fraudulent transaction shouldn't be a problem.

People who probably don't know any better(the general public at large), might be looking for a bargain. They do a Google search "Cheap Barbour Bedale" or something, CheapoBarbourFromChina.com comes up, the site looks convincing and professional, they don't look at the subtleties, like contact details, level of English, etc.

Sure you're not going to get clobbered for duty($150?) by US Customs? Or is apparel exempt from this, unlike say jewelry or watches or something.

I figured I needed a casual springtime jacket and this seemed perfect. My Tokito sports jacket is fantastic, but a little on the heavy side. I went for the bark (brown) color in the blast, and I hope to not get stung with customs - always a bit of a lottery.

Do you have to just make up random shit?

If the jacket is sent via postal service the chances of getting hit with any customs/duty somewhere between slim and none.
The tariff for a cotton jacket seems to be 9.4% or maybe 6.2% if classified as water resistant.
Fedex/UPS may charge brokerage fee around $25; DHL around $12.

I paid something like $25 total to DHL for a Belstaff wax cotton sent from the UK.

Can you compare the fit to anything else?

Might try and get to the local Barbour store in the next week to try one out.

They didn't have my size in the J Crew so I didn't actually get to try one on. It'll get delivered by Fedex on Monday though so I'll update you then. It looked like it would fit like a Baracuta Harrington. Imagine it'll fit slim.

nordstrom at old orchard has a few "fashion" items only, like shirts, women's vests, etc.  didn't see any classics there.  i will keep looking.

Could you do an XL? If so, there's a place in the Fatherland which has XL & XXL. Never bought from them but they seem legit.

Nope.  I mean I could, but it'd be too big.  I have the Camo Sapper (and just about the rest of the collection), so I'm good with sizing.  Damn.  Thanks for the link though, much appreciated.  I know one place that has it, but it's full price and may need a proxy.  I might have a lead at two other shops though.  Waiting to hear back from one and after that I'll hit the other.  Still if anyone spots one in person or online please do let me know.

Don't forget to give us the lowdown on that Blast Jacket.  What color did you go for btw?  Bark?  Was checking it out online again the other night and a nice hidden pocket detail I wasn't (but should have been) expecting.
