It was the Barbour Beacon heritage sports jacket that I was after. Other than paying $1000 on Ebay there seems to be nowhere to buy them :(

Looking at the Bedale an its longer version (forgot name).

Suggestions on sizing? I am usually a 38s, so a small should fit since I read they run large.

TIA

Beaufort is the longer version.

It's not padded so if you want warmth you might want the zip in liner.

Size wise it comes in measured sizes so you'll probably want a 36 unless you want it to layer over a sportscoat in which case go 38.

You don't happen to know of a good deal on a Military in sage, size large, do you? I'm starting to regret my preorder on the sports jacket..should have just went with the military. Everywhere i've found is sold out. Sucks because most vendors had them heavily discounted for a short period.

In Sage?  No.  Not even the XXL I saw the other day.  Black, yes.  It depends on where you live though.  Do you live in the States or the EU?

EDIT:  You might be able to grab a Sage if you live in the US.  Doubtful, but a possibility.

I'm in the US...i found one in black a few days ago, but i'm dead set on the sage. Plus, i'd like to have the option to use the zip-in liner.

Well good luck as I think you'll need it at this point.  That's a tough find.  I got mine from Barbour a few weeks back and I still remember when I was being rung up and they told me the price.  I was thinking "isn't it x% off?"  Then I remember, the military is $100 more than most of the rest.  My advice would be to call Barbour stores here in the US.  There are only about 6 or so.  See if they if they have it and see how long they can hold it .  Then extend it a day if you can.  Then on the weekend call a different store and see what promotions they have.  Then call the store you found it at and have them send it to you.  Anyway, they'll probably know right away on the phone if they have it left or not.

Hi All,

Am interested in the Barbour Surtees.  Can anyone provide some feedback on the jacket itself?  Also, Does anyone know if they run small?  I had heard this from Orvis but wanted to double check.

Many thanks!

So anyone wondering about Bedale sizing for someone looking for a bit of a slimmer fit, I have some info. I am just under 5'11" and about 135lbs., thin I guess, but I don't really look lanky. Anyway, I wanted to get a Bedale and because I cannot try one on where I am, I was pouring over the internet researching the fit, asking people in forums etc. Most recommendations were for a 36, but I ended up ordering a 34. I knew it wouldn't be too small in terms of chest, but was worried about the sleeves being to short or the jacket length being to short.

You always hear all the time that Bedale sleeves run short, and I can't count the number of posts I've read about people complaining that the overall length is way too short. So I was surprised to find that both the sleeves and the overall length were significantly too long with a size 34. Not to mention the chest area being huge. It hung below my crotch and seemed to cover my whole butt. The sleeves were about an inch too long, covering part of my hand. Given the measurements provided on countryattire.com, I think I'll be ordering a 30 and I would expect that to fit well. I know this is a boxier fitting jacket, but I figured I would provide this info for any slimmer guys looking for a more fitted look, because I had a hard time finding such info when I was ordering.

If you're going to order a 34 or below, look into the children's jacket.  The XXL has the same chest measurements as an adult 34, although the back and sleeve are significantly different.

This may be a long shot, but I'm wondering if anyone here has any experience with the Dunmoor Fleece Vest. I just received it and much to my dismay it's very long. Like completely covers my ass and the hem hits at the top of my thigh long. I can see this being a good length for a jacket, but I have no idea why they would make a fleece vest so long.

In any event, curious to know if anyone owns one or knows what the deal is. Do they make a shorter version? Or was a sent a long one by mistake (the size just says medium)? I can't find anyone mentioning it on the internet and all the pictures of models shows it hitting just below the belt line (where a vest should hit). I really love the vest, so it would be a shame if it was cut so weirdly.

I suppose it's worth mentioning that all the other vests I own (Patagonia, RL, Penfield, etc) all fit perfectly in terms of length...

Any recommendations for a Barbour waxed cotton coat for a short guy? I'm 5'6" and I find the Bedale to be way too long for me. I'd even consider other brands as long as the fit and quality are up to snuff.

Yeah dude the Dunmoor Fleece vest is very long.  I just purchased one and had to return it, size L.  I'm 6'3" and it was still long.  The Dunmoor jacket fits the same as the vest and I was able to try on a M in store and it was still super long.  Awesome fleece though.  Would purchase immediately if it was shorter in length.

Glad I'm not the only one. I actually have a pretty long torso, so I've never run into something like this. To add insult to injury the vest is the perfect length if i roll it to the patch pockets. I think I'm gonna take it to my tailor and see if alterations are even possible on fleece. If nothing else I should get a good eye roll out of it.

I'm a little shorter and wear the Beaufort with no issues. I guess it just depends on how you want the coat to fit.
