Offical Barbour Thread - Page 72

Just aquired a 80's vintage Gamefair. I want to re-proof the coat but I dont want to change/cover up the patina and color variation too much. Does re-waxing drastically darken the olive cotton?

I ran across this on the Google+ site for Khaki's of Carmel:

"This is the jacket that James Bond wore in Skyfall, made by Barbour's limited edition To Ki To line. While they're completely sold out everywhere, we'll be getting a limited size-run in January, and pre-orderes are available!"

If you are interested in ordering one you can reach them at http://www.khakisofcarmel.com/ or 831-625-8106

Cool looking jacket. I think it is one of the best they've done. I can sure see why everybody wants one.

They were retailing for $866 CDN at JCrew Canada. On EBay they've been averaging >$1000 (usually between $1000-$1300).

I tried on my new Bedale for my wife and she asks "Why is that coat so short? Isn't it supposed to be longer?" I'm 5'9" 185lbs - so it's not like I'm some giant, making my Bedale look like it's for a mini-me... So a question on the Beaufort versus the Bedale - does anyone have a strong view here? I'm not expecting to wear this coat over a suit or blazer - just not my style...

Is it worth switching up my Bedale for a Beaufort? Any major style differences between the two coats other than length? It's a very easy exchange so just add $20 if I want the Beaufort so that's not an issue.

One other Q - I bought a liner as well.... Coat fits in a 40" with liner zipped in but the liner worn alone is tight when I zip it up. Can I upsize the liner to a Large in a 40" coat?

Apologies i advance if this has been debated back/forth on this forum or thread...

The Beaufort has a game pocket on the back of the jacket that can be accessed on both sides. There is also something on the inside of the Bedale sleeves that is different from the Beaufort. I wear the Beaufort at only 5'5", but wanted a longer jacket.

Here's a size comparison.

I have the liner as well and I think it's suppose to be tight worn alone, but to answer your question, I have a 36 Bedale and a 38 liner that fits fine both alone and attached to the jacket. Was perfect today in this windy weather we're having in the Northeast.

You aren't kidding about the windy today. I spent a couple hours outside today with my son & fellow cub scouts ringing the Salvation Army bell. I sure wish I had a liner for my Beaufort! However, a threw on a CPO type wool shirt as an insulating layer and it helped.

I wear a 44 suit and tried on both the 42 and 44 Beauforts. The 42 looked marginally better but wasn't comfortable with a SC underneath or something thick like the CPO shirt. In the end I went TTS with the 44.

Anybody have an idea where to pick up an Ashby and/or Bristol?  Really tough to locate in navy or olive.

Anyone have a list of Barbour retailers? I'm trying to find the Wessex in large for around $400. I've saw it on Endclothing.com but for 400, but it's sold out now. There's also one on masdings.com but they won't take my visa for some reason.

Well that's partially the issue.  I'm a 40 Bedale, 43" chest, 33-34 waist. 5'9" and... I don't weigh myself, maybe 180.
