I've never seen any remakes that didn't deserve their places in the corner VHS bargain bin of some suburban Blockbuster.

Two words: Swept Away.

The entire concept of remaking a classic film shows a great paucity of imagination.

Insomnia. Yet another chance for Pacino to ruin a film with rage and spittle.

I'm never all that up in arms about this kind of thing, but I'm *really* pissed about the American-made Oldboy.

I saw this thread title and immediately thought it had to be about Rocky VI or whatever. Just sad.

Message to Hollywood: Don't. Touch. Kurosawa.

Well, The Magnificent Seven was pretty good...but other than that, no remakes of Kurosawa!

But think of how many other movies ripped off Kurosawa *cough* Starwars original 3 *Cough* as well as many other Spagetti Westerns.

I think that people in the states should try to appreciate foreign film a little more but eh, it will never happen... Closed minded bastards. Also I would absolutely Shit if they remade Densha Otoko. It would never work with American actors/backdrop

there's a difference between ripping off and remaking. virtually all movies rip off each other.

sure, there are plenty of foreign films people are missing out on. but all the same, the majority of imports suck. i visited korea and japan a few months ago and saw a few. horrible, cliched crap.
