These are great jackets, with superb leather.

IME though, the chest measurements represent a 42 but I believe with some conviction that it should fit quite trimmer, no? When I tried the same jacket I was an XL.

Casual jackets do not share the same measurements as SCs and suits. If you are a 42, a XL might fit you.

So is this size M more equivalent to a US40? Bloussons are intended to fit slimmer - is that already taken into account with BC's sizing, or would you have to size down? I'm asking since I wear Eu52 and size L jackets, typically. Wondering if I went down to a M, it would provide the slimmer fit or if it would just be too small. Measurements look about right though....

Yes, I wear a 38-40 suit depending on the brand, and this coat fits me.
