This story kind of hits home with me a little. Although I never got into drugs, where I grew up was a complete dumpster and pretty much every one of my friends was doing Oxy's when we were in high school (they have since switched to heroin or have already died of overdoses). I've never tried the shit, but I know that if I stayed in that crowd long enough then it was inevitable. The best thing I ever did was go away to college. If you take any piece of advice, I'd say DO NOT live at home and commute to a local college. Go away to college and live in the dorms, at least a 2hr drive from home. You need to completely start from scratch. While Alcohol is obviously everywhere, try to get in with a group of kids who have a good school/social balance. Also, word of advice coming from a guy that talks to former and current drug addicts at the local bars every time i come home for the holidays...PLEASE, no one wants to heat that your "doing better", or "getting your life back together". "staying clean". No one wants to hear that shit, its awkward for the other person; and frankly, your a grown-ass man, your supposed to to doing good! To give you an idea of where i came from, Here is an article that Sports Illustrated did of my best friend from high school, who was the top ranked high school pitcher in the country, got drafted, and OD'd twice on heroin after being drafted 16th pick overall to the Marlins.
