Are there more sellers than buyers on SF?

As someone who sells on SF from time to time, I think this is the best and most convenient place to sell on the internet. However, I am starting to wonder if there are more sellers than buyers on SF, and if the selling threads are being mostly viewed by other sellers.

Don't take this the wrong way - I am very happy on SF. Just wondering if anyone else was wondering the same thing.

There seems to be a very healthy number of buyers all the time. Especially when items are in a popular size and in NWT condition. Pieces that are clearly several seasons old or have damage, those take longer.

I'm impressed with B&S on SF.

When I've sold items on here, many of my customers were lurkers. I think there are more buyers than sellers. That's not to say many sellers are also buyers and vice versa.

I'm also impressed with how well B&S works and how many good sellers/buyers there are.

There are 10,000+ SF members with 15 or more posts - active enough to not just be one-time users. 5,000 sellers would be a lot, no?

Does that mean the others are buyers? For the sake of this discussion, I am not assuming that everyone on SF is either a buyer or seller. I am sure there is a large percentage of members who are neither.

IMO threre are a lot more buyers than sellers. Just put an IC for a RL Darlton for 450 USD and you will see or for matter for a Cucinelli vest for 350 USD. Or any EGs ...

People on this forum know me as a SA for a high end store and frequently ask me questions inquiring to buy products. I'd say their is a higher number of buyers depending on the product and the price. I enjoy my job and never mind answering questions, and usually the people on here are really nice and honest. In all of my transactions I only had one (who had a high post count mind you) slip me a bad credit card which was dissapointing.

Just to add my own experience up here, I was a long time lurker interested in the B/S threads before I joined recently, so I think, like musicguy said, there's just a large amoutn of lurkers like myself who are either only interested in buying, or too neervous to register for whatever reason.

Well I just joined recently, but it was not with intention of buying (I actually didn't even really recognize the B&S section immediately). Having said that, though, I did buy a pair of slacks the other day. I came across SF as a result of being actively engaged in changing positions. After going to a couple of interviews wearing an underwhelming and ill-fitting Joseph A Banks suit, my interest in things sartoriale was re-kindled. A new position brings with it the need to rebuild the wardrobe, so I'm trying to get the staples together. I didn't join here expecting to get that done here, however. But I'll take a reasonable deal wherever I can get it...

More buyers than sellers, always has been. Let's also not forget that sellers buy stuff too.

I have found that it is good if you really just want to get rid of things fast as most of the buyers are just plain cheap bastard bargain hunters who don't want to pay anything close to the value of what you are selling. I think some people are ridiculous on it. Somebody will be trying to haggle you for $10 dollars on an $800 pair of shoes. I just have to shake my head sometimes.

TONS of casual members who rarely post but buy every now & then. I've sold maybe 20 items, and only sold 2 to SF "regulars".

Some are cheap, and some have got the $ and aren't afraid to spend it. Depends a lot on what you're selling.

Also, if anyone wants a $10 discount on my $800 item, he can have it... as long as paypal payment is made TODAY!

There is no question as an SA for a retail store, I only inform this board about the absolute steals because there is a hesitance to pay full retail price or anywhere close to it. When my store goes 50 or more percent off is when I offer the goods to the style forum guys. I appreciate the business and they appreciate the bargain price so its win-win.

Some times in a sales thread I look at how many people have viewed it and you can either be thrilled that 5000 people just saw your advertisement (free of charge mind you) or you can say, how can 5000 people have viewed this and not a single person been interested?
