Dry Cleaning Drama - what would you do?

Thread Starter 
The Short version.
Lost a pair of Cucinelli Trousers, (early November).
Last week - Shrunk (they would fit a 10 y/o) a pair of Loro Piana Pants.
First time , I figured Shit happens & they said that they would replace them, when the owner returns from a trip home to Korea.
Owner comes back & today tries to shy away from any responsibility - even as I pointed out that the shrunken pants are now 10" too short for me and about 12" too tight around the waist.
I am generally a patient individual and had to walk away.
Aside from burning down the store any suggestions would be welcome.

Find a new Dry Cleaner, post a negative review on your search engine of choice, move on with your life.

I presume they didn't reimburse you for the lost trousers.

First mistake was going back to them after this happened.

What would I do at this point? No reasonable cleaner would refuse to reimburse or replace a shrunken wool item. I would insist on reimbursement.

Regardless of whether they agree, find another cleaner afterwards.

i would say chalk it up as a loss and then move on to another more reputable dry cleaners. i had a brand new sweater mangled the first time i dry cleaned it and they just reimbursed my dry cleaning fee.
i never went back. that is the best thing to do as a gentleman. not taking up such claims at a court or what have you. knowing how to take a hit from a smaller person/establishment and being able to move on without lowering yourself to their level saying youre 'hurt'.
just move on and im sure op thinks the same.

If it is a reputable cleaner, they should try their best to reimburse you. Once a dry cleaner lost my suit and I talked to the owner about it. He asked for the original receipt and gave me half of what it would have cost me if I were buy a new one to replace it and discounts on future dry cleaning. The suit was a few seasons old and I didn't really care about it too too much. I am still giving this establishment my business. In your case, it sounds like it is a mom and pop shop and I think the remedies are quite limited. Try to push for a reimbursement, buy never take your business there again.

No one got hurt, I'd just want my money back. I think that's pretty reasonable.

At the very least they should refund the cost of cleaning. I had beer spilled on the pants of a nice suit and took it to be cleaned the next morning. Foolishly, I didn't check the pants when I picked them up. About 2 weeks later I realized the stain didn't come out and their excuse was "dry cleaning can't remove liquid stains". I demanded my money back after noticing that another garment we dropped off the same day was not cleaned well either. Another cleaner removed the stain in the suit pants almost completely, after it had set for several weeks.

How exactly do trousers shrink? I ask because I've seen couple of people mentioning this already. What in the process of dry cleaning shrinks wool? Anyone knows?
