Knot with British spread collar?

Does this FIH knot work with this wide spread collar? I like the length of this knot, but would it be better to maybe use a more symmetrical knot such as a Pratt knot? This is a fairly thick tie.

Personally, I think a larger knot would be more appropriate for such a wide spread. Consider a half windsor, or if you are really gutsy a full windsor.

Half windsor would be my knot of choice-FIH tends to suit narrow collar spaces alongside the prince albert.

I always use the four in hand on a spread collar. No real reason to use anything but. Look at the WAYWTD thread, 99% of knots are FIH despite the collar and they always look great.

I never wear anything larger than a half windsor. A full windsor is the neckwear equivalent of chrome-plated spinners.

+1. I would increase the length of that collar though.

I would say half Windsor, but as others have said you really don't want to go with a knot that is much bigger.

I know FIH is the most popular knot, but I just can't get over how it is asymmetrical and always looks crooked. I find it surprising that this doesn't seem to bug anyone else.

It's all part of the charm.

the problem with a FIH with a spread collar is you get to see the tie reaching under the collar. A half windsor (and it doesn't have to be chunky) solves this problem.

I don't care what anyone here says, I like cutaway spread collars and full windsor knots. It may not be the most traditional look, but its the one I like.

It is traditional; it's the the FIH with the spread collar that is a newer phenomenon.
