I did size TTS (I went with 9.5 UK, which is 10.5 US). I thought about sizing down, but the boot was snug in argyle cotton socks. It will be a bit looser with thinner socks, but fine.

I have the Quoddy maliseet in peanut brown that were extremely confortable out of the box. I don't own any Quoddy suede, but I always had the impression they were very confortable with or without socks

My failure to find a baller messenger has brought me to this. I feel like I could do a lot worse?

You could do a lot better. For starters, look at Filson 256 and Saddleback

I did see it on an employee at one of my local J. Crew's, it was actually quite nice looking

So JC is using a price differential on the same mass-produced, China-made shirts in order to spur sales? Say it ain't so!

I wonder if JC's loyal mainline customer base will ever catch on to its scheming ways

What kind of abuse have you put it through? I've had one for about 5 months and there's not a stitch out of place.

I agree, if you can afford a saddleback they will last a lifetime.

I looked for a messanger at the ~$100 price point for a long time and almost bought this. Ended up with a barbour, which is one of the best purchases I've made. It's indestructible.
