What's the rule to follow when buying a suit jacket like the ludlow as far as the sleeve length?

Don't listen to what that person told you. Trying to tailor/shorten the entire length of the jacket is most likely going to be expensive among other things. If you liked how the 40S felt overall, such as the actual jacket length, you can always have the sleeves let down some. I'm guessing there is some fabric to let out, as most jacket sleeves have some extra fabric so you can do just that.

Again, if you liked the actual length of the coat, sleeves is an easy thing to let out. And you can always wear it with the sleeves on the shorter side, if you like how it looks, than just wear em short. If you are gong for a more traditional/professional look, it's a simple alteration to let them out some.

Got the henley hoodie, it is pretty awesome. It's slim through the arms and body, and is super soft. also easy to pop over and run out.

Has anyone ever tried on the Stockton Racer?
It's one of the few leathers I seen available online in size Medium Tall and I'm curious about the quality & fit.
Full retail seems steep but I suspect JC will be having 25 or 30% sale soon. . .

I just got the Vintage utility fleece deck jacket in size S (see here: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_feature/theliquorstore/teesandfleece/PRDOVR~29368/99102082357/ENE~1+2+3+22+4294967294+20~180~~20+16~90~~~~~~~/29368.jsp).

It fits like a glove. Perfect for layering in the cold NYC fall/winter. I recommend it.

a RRL SA told me that one of the top designers left RRL for a more lucrative position at j crew, which is why some of their newer bags have that RRL aesthetic.

I have, It's much bigger and darker than I expected,

It has the same color with this link photo. (rugged twill briefcase.) http://dappered.com/2011/03/j-crew-rugged-twill-briefcase-sale/

I'm not fully satisfying about this but I'll keep it for 2-3day travel

I picked one up in charcoal in January and I have been very happy with it. The fit is great and I usually get a compliment or two when I'm wearing it.

J. Crew just unveiled their new bags: http://www.jcrew.com/mens_category/accessories/bags.jsp

Buuuuut... J. Crew bags are shit. I bought that twill messenger bag back in December and it's falling apart on me. The strap is literally splitting into two and the leather on the buckle straps is starting to feel really flimsy. I just used the bag to take my laptop to and from my house to work. Nothing intense.

A tote I bought from them has similar durability issues... it rips really easily.

Bought a Filson original briefcase and a Filson zippered tote and haven't been happier.

They might be more expensive ($98 vs $130-205) but the long term value is well worth it.

Even I know JCrew bags aren't meant for carrying things in.
They're just for show.
