Could be a money thing. Or he's doing the studio a favor so that they produce another one of his original films. (Inception, Prestige, etc)

I wouldn't read much into that. Purely business.

RFX is right. They will want to start with a fresh batman even if it's not a full reboot.

I'd give it an 8/10. Not bad, certainly better than Prometheus, but not nearly as good as Dark Knight.

Instead of pointing out some of the flaws, I'll just say that it didn't have as big of an impact on me as #2. The best way I can summarize my feelings is that the Joker was a more compelling villain.

Bane breaks Batman's ass like a little boy, tosses him into a pit, and blows shit Gotham up. But it never really felt like Bane had defeated Batman (or even gotten one-up on him). Joker managed to fuck his world up even more despite not doing near the amount of damage that Bane did. In DK, Joker had the upper hand and outsmarted Batman until the very end. In TDKR, Bane gets in one good fight, and that's it.

I spent like 10 minutes total in this thread in since I've got back. Its not like I'm here posting 1000 times over. I leave that for RFX.

And, you misunderstand something - I didn't KNOW I wouldn't like it. I just assumed as much from the first two movies. I REALLY HOPED that I would. I really hoped that it would turn around my impression of the series and of Nolan. Sadly, I was let down. No biggie. I've spent $15 in worse ways.

Admittedly, that makes little sense, since Smallville was a weekly episode thing and you'd have to bitch about it every day. First, this only comes along every 2-3 years, so its a major event. Second, again, I'm still not bitching. I just didn't like it. Who's complaining about anything? I didn't go through a laundry list of things I wanted changed, or didn't like, or anything like that. The sound mixing (which was terrible in my theater, and others have bitched about it as well) and the back breaking timeline were it.

fwiw i liked bane better than joker, ledger's performance was hammy as hell and it might not be so fondly remembered if he hadn't died prematurely. joker is just too funny/crazy for a super villain

You can do it but you've got to mix the funny with the crazy/serious. Jack could have done it had he not been playing Jack Nicholson with makeup on. I'd still like to see someone do a take on The Killing Joke, which is the best batman TPB ever. Or, for reference, see any of the the Batman:Animated series Joker cartoons with Mark Hammill doing the voice.

Forgot to mention it earlier but I think JGL would have made an excellent Nightwing. Seems like he could pull off the whole "fuck you Batman, I'm doing it myself" attitude. He's too old to be playing Robin at this point.

This really depends on who you ask. If you're talking to Hollywood insiders and people who have nothing better to do than follow the banality of celebrity's lives, probably. But for normal people who don't care, the acting is what draws them in. More parts crazy and serious than clown is a great recipe for a Joker, imo. Bane never comes off as "fearful deranged genius" in the film, whereas if you read Knightfall, that is the essence of his character. It may be because I was trying to figure out his voice through the mask though, probably the single most boneheaded thing in the Nolanverse.
It's all open to interpretations, brah. There are distinct scenes where Joker is laughing in TDK, but they're scenes a normal person would find deranged. Nothing about the Joker is inherently funny, he's not a comedian and the things he says should creep a normal person out. I personally loved Ledger's take on it.

Man I could watch this over and over... sublime!
