U.S. Remakes of British TV Shows - Page 2

I like the US Office. A very different show to the British version, but enjoyable. Otherwise, ya, the remakes blow.

The lack of Maxxie on the remake of Skins sucks....

It will be interesting to see where the show goes...but I don't really want to watch it so I will probably just read reviews (unless they convince me otherwise).

Maxxie is missing and his lesbian replacement looks like she will be off-the wall unrealistic...I mean to start with she is some head cheerleader (talking on a bluetooth headset while practicing) who appears to be reasonably openly gay (going to lesbian events...lots of people seem to know) yet the high school rumor mill that is a cheerleading squad has no idea?

New tony sucks...New cassie appears to have been transformed into a generic "crazy girl"

Being familiar with how the original episode was done...the MTV version felt like they crammed in a ton of really awkward transitions so that they could jump between the original scenes.

Finally...wtf was up with the weather? It was snowing when new Effy came home...yet later that day we have people wearing shorts and driving cars into the water without getting hypothermia

It was very obvious to me that the show was filmed in Toronto.

I noticed that...I have never been to Baltimore (where I read that it was set...maybe they moved it to a made up town) but I could damn well tell that that was not it.

Agreed. The two shows have different types of comedy. But honestly, I believe that David Brent > Michael Scott.

US remake of Shameless on showtime is pretty good. I've only watched a few episodes of the UK version but so far the chicks are hotter in the US version.

The US version of the Office was once very similar in comedic tone to the British version. Then they ran out of material to copy and it became really stupid. If you watch a season 1 or 2 episode and then a season 6 episode, they are nothing alike.

I know. How did that suck?

I'm interested in how Veep on HBO turns out. It's the second remake of the Thick of It. I don't think the first one even aired, it was that horrendous, but Armando Iannucci is behind this one. No way that Julia Louis Dreyfus can hold a candle to Chris Langham, but at least the writing will be good.
