so you think you could pack all the clubs and bars in the LA area into 1/3 of manhattan? Are you crazy? All the bars in Pasadena, Hermosa Beach, pretty much every downtown in the county, Long Beach, Hollywood, LA, etc. You serious?

yeah. I got a lot of good suggestions here. I appreciate it. But I guess one of my opinions was just so crazy offensive to a couple of you it deserved a "blow it out your ass". I must've really crossed the line huh? But whatever dude. It was just my opinion, from an admittedly very limited experience. I guess I gotta work on my "too cool for school" attitude.

Or, you could do the same with the Hammer, or the Getty (especially since it sounds like you like big-ticket, popularly accepted "masterpieces"), or even LACMA.

Alright man. Thanks.

I've been to the Louvre and found it impressive mostly in a "That was a slide in my Art History class and now I'm standing in front of it!" sort of way.

I recommend the Japanese pavilion at LACMA and the Museum of Jurassic Technology (Culver City). Oh, and the Museum of Death in Hollywood.

I haven't been to a museum yet that I regretted paying the admittance fee to. I just think some museums are better than others.

Oops. Sorry to offend.

Holy crap guys, lighten up - i dont think I've ever seen someone on SF get spanked this hard for asking a seemingly innocent question.

OP - Just start going to the free days and forming your own opinion.

Theres a ton of museums in LA for whatever your appetite. I'd take the odds on LA having a more diverse spectrum than anyother city in the world. From funky to classical, I love LA!!

Now, fine art I cant help you. I cant stand renaissance & paintings of jesus and stuff Ive seen a million times. I did thoroughly enjoy the LACMA & could spend all day on those grounds even hitting the tar pits, cheesy page museum and food trucks for lunch.

Thank you!

Felt like I was arguing with my girlfriend on her period. I'm left standing there, wondering "What did I say?"

Thanks for the tip. I need to check out LACMA. Is it fair to say it's the biggest art museum in LA, as far as numbers of works of art?

Nobody's been to the SD Museum of Art?

I love the gem and mineral room in the Natural History Museum in LA, the Getty is very nice too. And, as a Pasadena local, I have to recommend the Huntington and Norton Simon

I haven't been to a bar since the nineties, but I prefer MoCA to LACMA.
