No Waffle Houses in my neck of the woods. Is IHOP a worthy substitute?

Didn't you live in Orangeburg, SC for a couple of years? I know there has to be a Waffle house there, being that it is right off I-26.

Thanks Jeff. Maybe if WH got wifi we could all connect from there with our waffles and hashbrowns but that would just end up ruining the spirit of the place.

IHOP is awful, imho. No comparison.

I am a little upset to read about these WH robberies. Maybe we could form a wafflehood watch.

We used to study at the Atlanta Diner. (I think that's what it was called, on N. Druid Hills over by Buford Hwy. Or, for a reference point more apt to the ATL sartorialist, a few blocks from Loehmann's.) It was an interesting mix of kids who were studying South Asian government and politics or organic chemistry or whatever to bottomless cups of coffee, and gay porn stars who got gigs from there...

Not that I was a stranger to the Awful Waffle as a kid. When I first started exercising seriously, I'd often go there just to get a grilled chicken breast, because it was cheap enough and I was lazy. Or even now, which is no shock considering that there are two of them within about two or three miles from my home, one of which less than half a mile away.

I used to live on N. Druid Hills when I was in undergrad. I might've been to the Atlanta Diner once or twice, but it probably wasn't very memorable. The Pink Pony down the street, on the other hand, .

I went to the Landmark Diner a few times, pretty high class for an old school diner.

It is not a worthy substitute. Huddle House is the closest alternative to WF, really anywhere they have a counter and a short-order cook. IHOP is the equivalent of a Denny's, albeit without the history or racism.
