Brand new member here!! I'm way excited to start exploring these forums and do nothing but increase my love/obsession with fashion. I'll have to admit it all started with suits and the seasons of MadMen on AMC have been very motivational. I know that it's not a "movie" but I thought I'd share my enthusiasm anyway. Glad to be here!!!

It's a black knit tie and the suit is a black and white glen plaid. Goldfinger was the only Bond film where Connery didn't wear at least 1 grenadine tie.

Daniel Craig is ok, but his muscular physique rather makes him look less elegant. Body of lies (suits are from Huntsman) is also nice. If interested in Armani suit in the early 80's, watch American Gigolo. You wouldn't dare to those suits these days.
Lazenby's kilt was worn as Sir Hillary Bray, not Bond, so it doesn't count. Lazenby had some of the nicest suits of the series. He took the simple Bond aesthetic established by Connery and made it more rakish. Roger Moore never wore suits with a low gorge, not even in the 80s. Except for The Spy Who Loved Me and Moonraker he had some very nice suits. Dalton had okay suits in The Living Daylights that fit well with the traditional Bond aesthetic, though they didn't fit as well as they should've. Licence to Kill was the worst Bond film of all for clothes. Brosnan's had some really nice clothes but too Italian for Bond. In GoldenEye his shirts were from Sulka, not T&A. Brosnan had a really nice dinner suit in TND with a 5-button DB waistcoat. I think the best Bond movie for suits is Dr. No. It was still classic, none of that slim 60s lapels and ties yet.

The classic gorge height is lower than what is the standard at the moment. In the next few years it will surely go down again. The gorge is naturally going to be lower since the lapels are wider. Sadly, this is what Roger Moore is remembered by, not the more elegant suits in his earlier and later Bond films.

Yup, my second favorite recent one, The Bank Job, didn't make it to the list. The robbers/villains have very stylish 70s-Brit flare to their suits, while the British gov't guys have stereotypically impeccable taste.

I know I have more to add to the list, but drawing a blank at this point...

Re: Bond movies, I don't think it's Moore's suits that get him passed over, it's his presence. He always seemed more like "Professor Bond" than 007. Dalton, on the other hand, is the polar opposite, all bad-ass, without any refinement. The way they carry themselves influences how people perceive their style. Connery and Craig pull it off better, and while more of a caricature of Bond, few in Hollywood wear suits better than Brosnan (Mark Stron from Body of Lies is a notable exception).

The Godfellas and Casino are not on the list, also Gangster number 1.

Actually being watching spaniard movies from the 40 to the 70s and the suits were very neapolitan ones, the same waterfall shoulder, very fitted, and very nice, not as the nowadays ones.

Pierce Brosnan looked superb in his Brioni suits in his Bond films, as did Daniel Craig in Casino Royale. Certainly not "too Italian for Bond," at all, that's a nonsensical assertion.

Except Licence to Kill. That film has no sartorial value whatsoever. Bond wears a dated OTR suit without a tie and a 2-button notch lapel (really low gorge) dinner suit.

I doubt Ian Fleming would approve of anything but an English tailor. Brioni is too much of a power suit for Bond. It's an excellent suit of course, and Brosnan looked great in them, but it just doesn't fit Bond's character.
