the big mistake with gattaca was putting all the detectives in 1930 style trenchcoats and snap brim hats when the setting was the future. a gimmick that did not work. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm2939260416/tt0119177

Thom Cruise's silver-gray suit in the Michael Mann movie collateral with Jamie Foxx. http://movies.about.com/library/week...teralpicsc.htm anyone who has one of these can confidently apply for a job as a hitman

I am not sure. Reading SF I observe a lot of bias in favour of returning to old times style.

I enjoyed Gattace and cannot recall having been disturbed by the trenchcoats or hats.

Also, not exactly the suit/SC itself, but the attitude and the way it fitted Inspector Standsfield in Leon. http://www.imdb.com/media/rm1818723328/tt0110413

I thought both actors wore Canali? Gene Hackman for sure did.

You saying the clothes are not great or are you saying you just don't like the film noir feel to the film?
