Santoni FAM Flynn - Page 2

Santoni over Testoni anyday.

IMO for me..

diorshoe, please take no offense but paying $950 for anything other than Santoni limited editions is a rip-off. I bought two pair of FAM from Rome last week and both came in around $500. The only shoes I saw that came close to $1,000 were the exotic leathers and the limited edition models that started at 1,400EU. More power to you if you love them but you might be better off calling the store in Rome and ordering than using your local Nordstroms.

i dont know how to order from Rome or have a catalog to look at or even know where to start. then i have to deal with shipping, insurance, and probably duty.

i know the 950 is a hefty price, but it is just a hop, skip, and jump away from where i live and i can see them and try them on. and pick and choose which one i want (i'll line up 3 pairs of AE or ferragamo, santoni all in same size and see which ones are most pristine).
plus i have a platinum nordstrom card where they give me $40 gift cert every $1000 purchase.
plus , i really love this semi brogue!

but if you can give me some info about rome then thanks!

so here are my new FAM , i really love them, i guess i will put up with the price , as the thrill of having these is actually blanketing my remorse of having a lighter wallet.

the box is labeled "dark brown"
upon initial look from afar they appear to be a sort of a very dark deep almost black brown
but upon closer inspection it is actually antiqued in burgundy with a certain borders and key areas highlighted with black.
i dont say burnished , because that would mean these are burgundy with black on the toes and heel, this one is more so highlighted ever so strategically everywhere with bits of black patches to give an overall impression of a dark brown (red and black)
there is actually no brown color on it.

Understood, ds, just wanted to make you aware of prices that can be found elsewhere. If you love them and indeed they are great looking shoes than so be it.

If you can't say that you can get him the *same* shoes, much cheaper, and near where diorshoe is located (if he needs to try them on) then you're just spoiling.

Factor in that diorshoe may not have a contact at the Rome store, the possibility of returns, not speaking the language, not being sure of the size conversion (even if he knew his size in that last), tax&duty issues, inability to make color choices, shipping, wait time, and so on. So you say you can *maybe* save him $450 after all that? That's great, but hardly justifies declaring his purchase a rip-off.

[And those Flynn's are amazing! The Florence really has my eye...oof!]

Good Lord even the newbies are touchy around here.

Shoes are serious business, man

koji (who's still kicking himself for not splurging on a pair of Santoni FAM for 350 Euros when he was in Florence )

Note that Diorshoe's Flynn's are handmades, while the shoes pictured on the website are not. The construction is different. Look at the welt.

I don't see why the rome store would ship the shoes to you direct. What would Nordstrom have to say about that? I would assume that they would direct you to the NY store or simply ship your shoes to the NY store and you pay US prices. I love your shoes. $950 is more than I am willing to pay right now but at the end of the day, it's your money and if you feel that they are worth it, then they are worth it. I'm just sitting here hoping you score a nice pair of Santoni's at the rack for me in a size 10

thanks for all the 'love' gentlemen.

yes , aharris, that is the peculiarness of the santoni us site is the fact that there is no clear definition of their lines . although for the flynn, ford, florence, and fritz i have only seen the handmade fam , never seen them as 'regular' with the regular welt. it may just be a photoshop thing they did? no t sure.

ed, whenever i drop by the Rack (to get m y hands on the fresh inventory before anyone else, i live literally right next door), i have a few people in mind, and you one of them.

but i thought you were slightly larger foot than mine? you are a 10.5 D are you not? but if those westgates fit you, then you are 10 i suppose as the 10 westgates fit me perfectly.
