I'm not suprised at all that FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS was not mentioned in this thread at all. It's such a good show and it's very hard to convince anyone of that. I really don't get why people are so reluctant to give it a try. Watch the first episode and if you're not moved by it, I would be shocked. I believe it's available on Netflix Watch Instantly.

For Sci Fi, The X-files and Battlestar Galactica are the most palatable for average viewers. If you're a sci-fi vet though, I think Farscape is by far the first show that you should get into. It's a strange series for sure, but the amount of creativity that went into it and the resulting universe, characters, and style make it among the best TV ever made.

Best show on tv, hands down. Can't wait for the new season!

Started watching bored to death the other night, pretty good.

The Inbetweeners is some seriously funny stuff. MI-5 is pretty great, at least the first 3-4 seasons. Others have mentioned them, but Archer, Better Off Ted and Party Down deserve more love. Firefly was amazing, as was Battlestar Galactica. The IT Crowd and Top Gear UK are excellent. Coupling, aside from the final season, was pretty damn funny. With the exception of The Inbetweeners and some of the Top Gear seasons, all of the above are available for streaming on Netflix, which is so very nice.
