Too pretentious? Either way I think it looks like a really cool place.

This apartment has been for sale FOREVER. First listed for $7.9 last January.

Agreed. That is for only the most vapid nouveau riche. I thought this image looked terrible also: http://www.nytimes.com/slideshow/201...6-BOOKS-3.html Here's an idea... get the books you like bound with your own covers. Those silver jackets look like something a high school student made.

The price here isn't terrible but they need to remove another $1-1.4MM They can take their books. I want a library of my own choosing.

Really, the bar is nowhere near big enough for me. There is a line in the Great Gatsby where a visitor to Gatsby's library was astounded to see that his books were all real. Knowledge, class, and youth will always try to be faked. ~ H

It looks like their designer took his inspiration from Country Home magazine.

In NYC, I think those book shelves display "I'm so rich I can waste space on storing a zillion books". It does not convey knowledge or frugality. But the whole place isn't frugal, obviously.

City life requires paring down on the number of books one stores.

I don't see the appeal. Books are for reading.
