Outlier Tailored Performance Clothing - Page 66

so true, but regardless of all the hype the schoeller 4season 4-way stretch fabric is unmatched ime
I've bought 5 pairs of these pants and only paid retail on my first pair, the 4 others were kopped<150/ea delivered and I'm more than happy with that

the most ridiculous part of the ultra merino suede collection is that fucking T-shirt with the seemingly functionless square of Ultrasuede. basically the merino t, but$22 more expensive. rolling my goddamn eyes.

that said, I am going to Ecuador and want to cop a pair of their shorts, ideally trunks. any size from 30 to 32 would be cool, not picky about colour but would prefer something neutral. if any of y'all have a pair you want to unload hit me up yo!

ahaha rotflmao.gif

"The base of this t-shirt is our Ultrafine Merino T-Shirt... We’ve taken this base and detailed it with a square of Ultrasuede on the hem of the body."

legit laughed when I read that.

Supposedly, for cleaning glasses. Whatever.

That collection is the dumbest shit ever and I'm a huge Outlier fan. They must have made super limited quantities because they are already sold out in several sizes in everything.

I like Outlier, and own a shitton of stuff from them, but jesus, this is terrible. It's like that jacket they did where they replaced Schoeller with their NYCO fabric (which is nowhere as weather-resistant) on all the bits that would get exposed to rain the most. Great idea there.

I see some of you have mentioned Proof - just found out about this brand. What's the popular opinion? I was thinking of getting a couple of new OGs but the Nomads look boss. I tried out another weatherproof tech pant company (Nonetheless Clothing/Makers & Riders) but their communication and returns are subpar, for lack of a more diplomatic word.

(Actually I might get the Surfaces instead - I'm a huge fan of the 60/30 chino, and the color options look way more awesome. Oxblood, yo)

Yeah, this merinoultrasuede missed the mark for me.  When I saw their tweet I quickly loaded their site up and couldn't believe the price tag on the shorts and not sure what the hem was all about.  The square on the tee was also odd and off-putting.  Anyway....will be looking forward to what they come up with next, but props to them for experimenting.

As I have mentioned, I really like the Proof Nomad pants and shorts.  They have a slimmer fit that the Outlier OGs.  Can't comment on the Surface.  With Proof, they seem to go damn near a year between re-stocks.  The Surface pants were essentially gone the day they went up for sale a couple months ago and they tweeted they would be re-stocking before the holidays which never came.  Moral:  Buy fast when you see them, they may not be seen for a long time.

For some odd reason, the Nomads showed up on Huckberry last fall at a decent discount.  I grabbed a couple sizes and procrastinated returning them until they weren't eligible.  If anyone is looking for some new Nomads in 36, shoot me a PM.

I purchased the Proof shorts and like them quite a bit, but I have noticed a lot of threads coming loose from the belt loops. Anyone experience anything like this?

If they're anything like Outlier slim dungarees, I think it's normal (that being said, most Outlier stuff in general is loose-thread city - I have to spend a few minutes with a pair of scissors on every single item I buy from them). Synthetic stuff doesn't really have much of a 'finished' edge so there'll be quite a fair bit of threads coming loose. The original stitch should hold fast though, and generally the weave is thick enough for it to not be an issue.

I guess that can be a part of that style. I think Outlier is moving in a direction that's not for me. Although I will continue to buy their slim dungarees and dress pants, but if they put an Iphone pocket in either I'm out!

^I agree.
There using there hype to sell out products fast but I don't know how much longer it will last, I would guess not much. There pants are nice for what they are "technical pants" but I personally and im sure many others that buy them don't need technical pants. Once I bought and worn a pair of Pier Wu, and Momotaro chinos theres no going back to Outlier or any scholler fabric pants. If you need water resistant pants go for Outlier, if not buy a nice quality pair from a good label and you'll be more then pleased.
