Outlier Tailored Performance Clothing - Page 44

Yeah, I think Outlier is in a weird spot constantly with trying to figure out demand and price point because so much of their stuff is innovative.

The original bomber seemed to be well sought after and they made some very good revisions (IMO) to it. However, those revisions may have carried them past the price point people are willing to spend on that type of jacket.

I think they do a fantastic job of estimating interest in unannounced items and pricing it to where it will sell. We will see with this jacket, but seems to be a general consensus going...

The price is high but it will probably sell out anyways.

Yup. Which sucks for me frown.gif

The old bomber had a very decidedly Outlier look to it. There's nothing interesting about the new one, plus the price is outrageous for what it is.

Actually if it sells out that means it's more likely a few will eventually pop up used on the classifieds at cheaper prices so... better for you (us)?

heh, we could have a wide ranging discussion on what the 'Outlier look' is. How would you describe that?

Price wise... hmm... my outlier outfit for last fall/early winter was:

  • soft core vest (warm/water resistant core)
  • hoodie/cardigan (warm arms)
  • shirt (base layer) and/or henley

that's $240 (vest) + $275/$240 (hoodie/cardigan) + henley ($150) = $665/630 and the arms are barely wind resistant and not water resistant. You could swap out the hoodie/cardigan for the old bomber ($290) to replicate the new bomber and that's $680! Or swap in a supermarine shirt/anorak ($275/$580), wind/water resistant although not so warm, but you're not saving money at that point.

The new bomber is expensive but it can still be considered good value imo depending on how you build up your wardrobe .

On that note, how's that that outlier Henley? They are probably coming back anytime now and may pick one up.

I got the air forged shirt and it's a more substantial, dressy feeling shirt than a cotton Oxford. I'll try it out for a day this weekend and report back.

Just get a Tripple Aught Design henley a lot nicer.

Aye the TAD henley looks pretty nice.

Does anyone know for sure if the Outlier henley is coming back? The product page isn't on the website and I suspect, like the Outlier polos and pullovers, we might not see it for a while. I decided to keep mine just in case they don't restock it.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but TAD hasn't released a Henley this year yet and they don't offer one currently. Have been eyeing it and the Finisterre one. Waiting on Abe and Co. to release theirs...

Merino henleys restocked:  http://shop.outlier.cc/shop/retail/merino-ribbed-henley.html

Yesterday I opened the old page in a tab and I just noticed now that it's been updated.  If you want one, better get it before the mailing goes out in a few hours.

Dungarees in new colors too: http://shop.outlier.cc/shop/retail/slim-dungarees.html

How's the sizing on the huntsman 200? Found one S in stock but I'm not sure if it will be too tight.

Outlier sweatpants coming out soon? Lars is wearing them on the henley pictures:

Did you try out the air forged shirt? The most oft asked question is some variation of 'is it sweat resistant?' 'does it show sweat?' and I'm interested in your answer to that.

Heh, it was 148 last year too. It might seem high compared to the TAD henley (99) but compare it to the Isaora henley (239) and suddenly Outlier's price looks very low. On the hand, some people think that even 99 for the TAD henley is hard to justify...

It's got 7% spandex so it'll stretch. It's designed as a base layer (and with those raglan sleeves I'd rarely wear it over a dress shirt) so S should fit you fine if that's your regular size.
