Outlier Tailored Performance Clothing

As I'm sure most of you know, Outlier is having a "sale" on their ultralight blazer and ultralight summer trousers for $696 until Friday, April 19th.

That being said, question is about sizing; I am really most familiar with J.Crew's Ludlow fit and I'm a 38r. However, J.Crew usually runs a bit big, so I'm not sure if I should be ordering a 38 from Outlier since it is a deconstructed blazer, or go up to a 40, which is most likely my true size.

Also, I'm not much of a bike commuter, especially in such "formal" clothing, but really love the technology behind Outlier's fabric so I'm wondering if maybe this just isn't for me. I feel as if I'm more or less looking for an excuse to buy Outlier pieces. I've been eyeing their blazers for some time now, and now that it's in stock, and a pretty good deal packaged with the pants, I'm looking for a solid reason to invest. Is this something for someone who would be wearing it quite frequently and who is more "on the go"? As a student, I need to be watching my money, but it's just so damn difficult with something like this!

Since you're in NJ/NYC I'd suggest going down to their office and trying on the blazers in different sizes.

I've found my Outlier gear to be noticeably more comfortable than my old alternatives even for mundane uses like lounging around at home. It's also worth not having to worry about what you're wearing in the event of any occasion that requires more active use.

The question is do you need a blazer? Most men — unless they're Steve Jobs or Zuckerberg — need a suit at some point in their life but as a college student do you need one right now? Perhaps spend that money on a supermarine shell and tees instead? You could wear a blazer everyday (see the Streetwear Suits thread for examples) but do you want to?

I agree the Ultralight Blazer + Ultralight Trousers is a good deal but keep in mind that you could wear an Ultralight Blazer + OG through all seasons, adding a jacket when appropriate, whereas you probably couldn't wear the Ultralight Trousers in the fall or winter

Yeah I was thinking about heading over to their shop in BK to try on their stuff this weekend, but of course, that's after the sale is over.

You do bring up a good point; if I need the suit right now as a student, and to be perfectly honest, it's nice to dress up for certain events I go to, but mostly only pull out my suits/blazers for presentations at school (business school). Also the fact that the ultra light pants aren't as versatile as the OG pants... will need to sleep on this

The struggle is real though

If you don't need to wear a suit. Well, you save $190 if my math is correct off my head, I would just get OG pants in black that you can wear all year long, and a regular black blazer.
*I never tried ultralights, but I think they are most likely ultralight, they weigh about as much as three ways shots so that pretty cool. But unless you live where it 100F+ you should be great with All there other pants.

Black because its obviously easier to match.

Cool, I'm gonna head over to their showroom this Friday to check out some of their blazers. Maybe I will try to pick up their OG stuff to wear all year round. I guess it makes sense to get something a bit more versatile.

I'm thinking Navy might be better overall than black. I live in AZ so I'm looking at the summer trousers and the three way shorts. Man, with shipping it's such an intimidating price. Especially with Outlier pieces selling for half price on ebay.

at least you don't have to pay duties, I have two packages on the way, one with 2 shorts ($300) and another with 2 pants and a shirt ($550). Shipping for each was $40 and then the ******* import duties are 140euros for one package and 70 for the other. About 35% more expensive in the end.

speaking of customs and duties, any fellow Canadians know if I can expect them too?

^Not that I have ordered from them before, but I figure u just get taxed since all of their stuff is made in the US.

If you choose the UPS delivery option expect to definitely be charged customs, duties, brokerage & tax.

If you choose the USPS delivery option expect to not be charged anything. I've received multiple deliveries from Outlier through USPS where I wasn't even asked to pay tax. Some of their stuff is made in Vancouver so perhaps that's the reason.

By default Outlier only offers UPS delivery if the value of the order is over a certain amount but you can contact them and specifically request USPS instead.

Leaning towards the slim dungarees for the pants rather than the trousers or climbers. I figure the somewhat denim-like look will be easier to wear than the navy/black pants. It's only 2-way stretch though compared to the OGS or other pants. Can anyone describe the comfort on the dungarees? I'd imagine they're not as stretchy as the jeans some places like Uniqlo have with 2% spandex or something.

^ they are the most comfortable pants I've ever had. In 4-way stretch fabric I only have shorts and they are very nice but dungarees are extremely comfortable and looks more durable. The gusseted crotch makes a big difference and they are VERY stretchy but look awesome. I've been wearing them single day day since I got them in February.

I dont have slim dungarees but I cant see anybody regretting an og pant, even in warmer weather, I'm in socal and they feel like you're wearing slim breathable sweatpants, it was over 80 degrees today and I was fresh all day.

Yeah I hear their regular fabrics are breathable and light so I'm curious how extreme the summer light trousers are... might order a couple items to try. Do they ever do promo codes/freeship?
