wearing the stroller

I simply love the stroller. However There aren't many occasions where i can wear it. Do you think I could wear it to places/events where lounge suits are required or would it simply be wrong?

Necro-posting in case you're still looking for thoughts. I don't see any reason why you couldn't wear a stroller/morning jacket/black lounge to events where most people will be wearing dark suits. As has been said before, if you wear houndstooth or glen check trousers instead of cashmere stripes, most people will think it's less dressy/formal/severe than a dark lounge suit. It's only if you wear it with cashmere stripes and a vest that it starts looking more formal/severe than dark 2-pc SB suits.

Will has a good post on the versatility of the stroller with DB coat and houndstooth or glen check trousers at asuitablewardrobe.dynend.com. It can easily look like a less flashy version of a navy blazer with shiny buttons. Great for weddings, baptisms, matinees at the opera or symphony, coat-and-tie cocktails, or gallery viewings.

probably not unless you move in the correct circles.

N00b question: Is the stroller just a black DB jacket or is there something else special about it that sets it apart from other jackets?

I stand to be corrected but as a stroller is commonly worn with a silver, dove gray or buff waistcoat then they are much more commonly SB than DB.

My sister's wedding we wore black SB three button strollers, white shirts, silver mini check wedding ties, silver waistcoats and gray/charcoal stroked trousers.

Remember a stroller is a less formal alternative to morning dress (daywear formal) as a dinner jacket is a less formal alternative to evening dress (white tie and tails formal).

Will describes them as single or double breasted with jetted/besom pockets and peak lapels. As others have said before, if you wore it with grey pants (solid or subdued print) I'm sure most would look at as a black blazer.
