You can't really compare the answers of married women with thoae of single women. I've usually seen big differences.

Or it's because his wife thinks he's asking because it's actually him who is taking somebody he met on plentyoffishdotcom out on a date. She knows using a coupon is the kiss of death.
Most married women think 3 to 4 moves ahead of their husbands.
Checkmate.

I wasn't being literal. I meant use a coupon with your girlfriend (or someone who your very comfortable with), not a 1st date.

Most definitely. Its like when women/wives try to get their men to stop wearing the clothes and/or driving the cars and living the lifestyle that attracted them in the first place. They know what other women are NOT attracted to and making their men do those things eliminates competition.

The people here advocating the coupon use got to be kidding. I cannot for the life of me imagine how this would make you look like anything but a complete weirdo.

This is a serious misjudgement in my opinion. The related "just be yourself" attitude rises its ugly head again and again in this thread.

How so?

Do people actually go dutch? It's always been like 70-30 in my experience.

It depends on what people are comfortable with. If you're footing the bill most of the time its important to make the distinction between being a SO and a meal ticket.

Basically, make sure she brings something to the table. It doesn't have to be money. .

I have almost always gone dutch except for in special circumstances like "I'm taking you out" or birthdays...even first dates have been split.

Of course as I get older things might change a bit...not so much in that there will be an expectation to pay but now that we're not students anymore and have real jobs, picking up a cheap check isn't really a big deal now that a paycheck more closely resembles my average account balance in college.
