Weekend bag, Rimowa trolley or Filson Duffle? - Page 2

For short trips I take this leather Ghurka. I think a leather bag like this is nice when used as a carryon, especially when going somewhere nice, like a resort, B&B or on business.

For very casual trips, like a beach vacation I will take this; (LL Bean circa 1980's)

I use this cheap cutter and buck Its inexpensive, but its nice quality, and the houndstooth interior looks great. Perfect size for a weekend trip.

I like the duffel from Mulholland Brothers. (I finally got a set of luggage that matched.) Unless you have heavy gear (like sporting equipment), you should be able to carry it in your hand. No reason to "roll." And duffels are in; have been for quite a while, actually.

Made a decision guys, I'm going to get a nice small duffle to use for things like weekend car trips, overnights, etc. but also keep my old black trolley for use on flights. I rarely fly, so it'll be a once-in-awhile thing where I need lots of space and practicality, style be damned ; ). I think I'll use the duffle much more often but for shorter hauls, so i'll pick up something nice for that.

I have a great pebble grain leather bag that's 20 x 13 x 7. I use an Eagle Creek packing folder and can fit about three days worth of clothing in there without it shifting around.

(I'm a pitiful luggage fetishist too. If I had unlimited funds, I would have the world's largest luggage collection. Don't know what it is about the stuff, really.)

I like the duffle for style, but they're usually OK if your packing light and for a weekend or less. They're appropriately named 'overnight' bags as thats usually what they can handle.

Correct, I think it would be overkill to bring a trolley to the gf's house for a weekend, but for anything longer or by plane, the old black trolley will be fine.
