I took the same size as redwing gt but the different lasts is probably what made it off as redwing gt is really roomy

You went with width D?

For what it's worth, I wanted the GT but they only come in a D width. I need an EE. Going same size as the Red Wing GT but in EE worked for me.
(If the GT came in a EE then that'd fit me).

nice!

Ok so knucks` boots were single leather sole despite the obvious layers of leather on the sole. I am basing this off another single/commando sole config someone received off another forum

So, I figured out a theory.
The Commando Half Sole is not simply a Rubber outsole, but a Leather outsole with Rubber attached to it.
So it's not the same thing as a Vibram 700 Composition Half Sole, which is merely rubber.
Thus there is actually 2 layers of Leather in the forefoot part of the boot, while this configeration is still a single Midsole, because the 2nd layer is part of the Outsole, the Commando.
And that's why they told me Commando can only be used with single midsole. If you use double midsole, there would be 3 layers.
Anyway, just my theory.

I wonder if White's could make a 700 half sole the way they do the Commando half sole in that picture?

Right:

That picture shows it decently well.

The entire sole is leather, with the rubber attached at the front as you've said.
