How long did it take you to break the white's in?
On my Bounty Hunters it took less than a week of wearing them a little bit longer each day.

imo, break in time depends on the kind of leather & construction__ ei, sole thickness [number/type of layers] & the last. i'd say, a SemiDress Chromexcel with single leather sole on "swing" last would be a quick route. my SJ R/O took around 2 weeks, but when they did they were the most comfortable boots i've ever had [aside from my ALDEN Black Indy].

Just received my boots from White's eBay store. A two-tone Oxidado Bullhide and Black Pebbled leather, no lining. The fit is just nice. Comfortable straight out of the box. Sizing wise I followed exactly as per my Red Wing 575.

what color midsole looks proper with chrome excel? brown or the lighter natural color? Anyone here actually added 1/4" to the heel as opposed to lowering it?

Go for natural to get a nice contrast between the leather and the sole.

I can't think of any reason to get a steel toe unless you need one for work. Otherwise it just seems ridiculous. I say go single celastic toe box, which is basically the standard.

Is kyle from baker on the forums?

Gottta give him props, I changed my order several times to the point that I feel embarassed of having to press the "sent" button all the time lol and he updated my order timely :slayer:

I gave it some thought and Brown dress is the best leather White`s got. After scouring at aged pics of CXL, et al, IMO an aged brown leather looked best. Went with the following config (much different from the order I posted:

Brown dress everything
antique hooks and eyelets
single leather midsole (brown color)
tan leather liner
cuban heel
narrow trim, single row stitching
no captoe, celastic toe
standard last

Also sent them my foot tracing. Hoping to get these soon before xmas I hope :nodding:

Most people are happy with off the rack footwear but treating yourself to custom means what you wear, its in no one else's closet!

Kyle from Baker's is the man. Extremely helpful and can get you great prices. I buy all my footwear thru him/Baker's now.

I'm planning on getting a build up in #8 chromexcel with half soles, but as much as the standard cuban heel intrigues me, I am a little thrown off by just how high they will look in person. Would anyone with the half sole option mind giving me a heel height measurement? would appreciate having a number to go with it, possibly compare to my Alden Indys

These pictures above are the "brown dress" right? That`s what I specified in buildaboot and after looking at buildaboot leather options again, I got confused by the other browns like the "brown smooth." I can`t wait to get mine. How long does it usually take from Baker`s til delivery of the shoes from White`s?
