If you don't want to wait 2 years just put on a very light coat of a high-quality cream like Saphir, wait 15 mins then buff. Your choice.

I know what you're saying, but that is a different " shine" than what the leather looks like as it gets burnished smooth from use.

@Midguardian, I have the bison with Brown roughout and I can tell you that the color of the Brown bison would work really well with distressed roughout!

Personally though I would toe cap a smooth on a roughout, but who knows? It might be great! Certainly different!

Back to boots question. I'm getting closer everyday to ordering a pair of boots (most likely Whites bounty hunter, but maybe some Nick's Rangers). I'm interested in getting distressed smooth rough out toe vamp with Bison upper. I want a toe cap and am contemplating getting Bison. I am not sure how that will look though. Can some of you guys please give me your style opinion?

It can look cool with the right leathers.
Here is something Rising Sun did with Julian boots to give you an idea of how something like this would look

I was about to pull the trigger on some semi dress brown CXL's but after seeing what one guy did to them in two weeks I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on a nice brown or tan leather that's a bit more resistant to weather and a good amount of walking(or whatever the hell he did to those boots). I can't really find good pictures of the roughouts online or the distressed leather so I am having trouble picking.

If you don't like the wear of CXL then select a non pull-up leather like red dog.

For a long time the brown dress leather seemed the most popular on SDs, and a lot of guys swear by it. It looks slightly dressier but appears to be pretty hardwearing. For more of a workboot look, and a longer break in time, the brown smooth/brown oil tan is by all accounts White's thickest and toughest leather.

Yeah debating pushing ahead with a custom order for a pair of horsehide SDs on 461 mainly for this reason...
