I've heard $200 but that was about a year or two ago.

Go with Baker's. They'll do a total and complete rebuild for around $200 and the quality is really high up there.

Chad recently rebuilt some beat up old engineers of mine and I'm more than pleased with the results

(Planning to send them some Trench Boots in soon for an "upgrade" smile.gif )

Kyle told me 6-8 weeks and got them in 4 weeks...but this was a few months ago. He can estimate, but can't be specific. When ordering custom boots, one has to be prepared to wait longer than the predicted time...sure, people should be accurate in their predictions, but, sadly, that rarely seems to be the case. I have seen it time and again with different companies--all with good reputations.

Recently, I ordered some Wescos and they came about one week early. Some moccasins came two and half months late from Arrow Moccasin.

People talk about Nick's taking up to 26 weeks on their boots, but estimating 13 weeks...

This is why I went with Whites over Nicks. I cannot wait 26 weeks for boots. My season would be over by then! I just had custom made Lucchese made, they told me 3 months, I got them in a month. I was pretty stoked about that!!

Well, I haven't heard of Mason's, but they look good...have you been wearing them since the 1970s or did you get them later?

Yeah, I am two months in on a wait for Nick's, but I am not in a hurry...I've got too many boots, already. biggrin.gif

I think it's definitely preferable for companies to overestimate how long it will take them to deliver than underestimate, but so many underestimate, I have resigned myself to it.

I haven't quite gotten them, but it looks like some MTO Viberg work boots will be arriving about on time...Viberg is a solid company. Their work boots are every bit as good as White's or Nick's or Wesco. People seem to forget about their work boots, now that their service/fashion boots are so popular.

These are not custom, but I scored them from whitesriver on eBay for less than 300. They were listed as brown bull hide, but they seem more like loose grain cowhide in some places, like on the shaft. It's tight on the reinforced areas, like the heel up and toe. There was a hand written post-it inside the box that says brown bison.

Either way., the leather was kind of dull and unremarkable, IMO, but a few coats of saphir has brought out some character.

The arch ease seems like no big deal. They also seem to require no break in over the 4 miles or so I've walked the dog in them, save for one tender spot forward of my left ankle, but already it's diminishing.

I like the way the toes look on these.  Just curious if they are E width or higher..?  Sometimes White's toebox is a bit too slim for me in D width. But they also seem to vary a fair amount.
