Custom White's Boots ... Thoughts? - Page 508

The arch-ease works for my feet which give me a lot of trouble.  I also like the look.  The Cuban heel is a bit affected, but it helps the gait dynamics, I think.  In fact, I like the black so much, I then ordered the brown CXL for Cyber Monday, with the discount again at 30%, and got them today.  Love the brown too.

I would say there are mild imperfections on both, but I feel they add to the old-timey, handmade nature of the boots.

The real problem with these boots is that now my Red Wing Beckmans don't seem as nice as previously.

In comparison to my Alden Indy Boots, I can say they are of equal but different quality.  The Aldens are more refined, but the Semi-Dress seem more substantial and durable, though not actually heavier.

Regarding sizing:  I wear a 10D in Allen Edmonds Park Avenues and Leeds, as well as Dundees.  My Brannock size is also about a 10D, perhaps 10C, with low volume feet.  My Alden Indy Boots are 9.5 D, but I feel they are a bit generous.  I fit great into 9.5D in Red Wing Beckmans, Iron Rangers, and 875s.  My arches are a bit long relative to my total foot length.  I wear athletic shoes mainly in 10.5 or 11 D.  I have tried on Wolverines and felt that 9D was a tad short and 9.5 D a tad loose.  I have tried on Chippewas and found their 9.5D to be pretty good for me.  I wear a 9.5 EE in Danner Lights, which fit well, but were actually a tad narrow initially.  None of these other provide the support of these wonderful White's Boots.

So what size are the White's? :-)

I'm not saying I have a favorite boot... but in the event of a zombie apocalypse I would put on my semi-dress White's in brown dress.

Good point! They are 9.5 D and fit well...a touch more room in ball of foot than needed, but very comfortable and my feet aren't moving around or anything...heel-to-ball feels spot on...plenty of room in toe, as a boot should have.

Just got the email that my order was complete. Pretty fast considering my order went in on the 9th of November and they took thanksgiving week off.

That's so funny…I was watching The Walking Dead the other night, which I've been binge watching over the last month, and I was thinking that, man, in that situation I would be stoked to have my White's 10" bounty hunters! I own way too many boots from a variety of makers in the US and UK, but when the zombie apocalypse hits, it's my bounty hunters that I'm going to wear.

LUCKKYY!! (can you hear Napoleon's voice?) I also just got an email, but I'm looking at Christmas time frame. My order went in on Nov 2nd, but my grotesquely large feet jammed up the machines so it is taking longer.

Look what Santa in the big brown truck brought today:

Natural Chromexcel Swing last SDs...gotem lined this time - squish comfy from the start!  Unstructured toe...gonna collapse quick on these CXL's but they feel great!

Check out the backstay - a little pronounced, but will probably become subdued once the boots develop patina:

Came out slightly more clownish than my Brown Dress...I'm still VERY ok with that!

Both unstructured toe - brown dress has heavy wear, CXL with very little wear.
Nice boots! I really like that backstay. Is the backstay brown dress?

Thanks linafelt, agree the brown dress came out great - most definitely my favorite pair.  The naturals even feel different -my brown dress were real snug at the start on my right foot (which is slightly wider than my left), took a bit of spot stretching to make the fit right.  These CXL's are a perfect fit from the start.

If I had to pick my favorite kid, it would still be the brown dress tho...

But its close!

Thanks GoodAg, the backstay is Brown CXL - probably shoulda done the tongue in brown too, but the brown laces tie it in nicely.  Got the idea from a kid at the bus stop wearing Chuck Taylors with a different color backstay - I loved the retro look.

Congrats on your order - I'm sure its not too late to add the brown backstay :)

And this from a man with Viberg 310s with copper task... That's high praise!

Wearing my brown dress BHs as I read this, I would have to agree. I tend to reach for my brown dress White's in many different situations, so why not the zombie apocalypse?

Nice "party" @back👊🏼
Actually, did that on HH w/ Bison backstay & caps. This time, I'm planning on an SD DressBrown countered w/ Natty CXL backstay .... On the 700s, 1/4 lowered blocked heels, close trim, no celastic, all antique eyelets.

yesterday I sent a single whites bison (my avatar) with my wife to her chiropractor.  blew him away.  so few people realize what a great boot we produce out here in the northwest.  he was blown away as he should be.  the backstays are a different color on them and they are the best fitting of all my boots now.

sounds like an old joke:   an old sweet lady walks into a bar/ chiro office with a single semi dress boot........
