I recently came across a pair of semi dress that is a half size smaller than I normally take, (8 vs. 8.5) same width though. I bought them because they were too good a deal to pass up and was thinking I could just do thinner socks and it would be fine...

Well, the issue isn't the length per se, my toes still have plenty of room, and the widest part of my foot still matches up with the widest part of the boot, but the issue is that the arch support is too far back under my heel. My question for the experts is if I continue to wear and break in the boots will this issue go away as the arch support molds to my feet, or am I kidding myself and I should just resell and pass them off to someone they actually fit?

If its the latter, hit me up with offers for a basically brand new pair of black horsehide semi dress in 8EE, dress cap toe, vibram 700 sole standard heel.

Not an expert but I buy Whites a half size smaller than my regular shoes. You should have a good inch of toe space. If your toes are too close you probably need to size to size up. They're made to be worn with thick boot socks.

That might help, but I think there is something funky with that particular pair of boots (actually just one of the boots) - maybe that is why they were being sold on ebay. I have a number pairs of Red Wings in the particular last (#8) and none of them have been too tight on me. My foot is pretty regular - 11D in both White's semi-dress last and in Red Wings & Alden Indys.

Wow, two at once! Hardcore. Do you have your sizing nailed already in Whites, or is this based on a guess or sizing by Bakers?

I sent tracings in to Kyle. What he suggested matched up well to sizing advice I've found on forums. Since I've ordered two pair, I've also asked that a stock pair be sent in for sizing confirmation.

You will love the natural CXL bounty hunters. Mine are pretty close to this, except with non-celastic toe and 430 sole. Got em little more than a year ago and they have darkened a bit into a light brown.

Between siena waterbuffalo and british tan, which one is more durable especially against over-stretch

Here's a quick pic - sorry for the lousy photography.

My 430s hold up really well.  Like all heels, it's the first part of the sole to go, but the front half of the sole is rock solid on my pairs.

Same here. I did a fair bit of hiking in the mountains this summer on the 430, in particular in my 8" distressed smooth BHs. I'm actually pretty impressed by how well the 430 is holding up, especially given that I'm a pretty big guy.
