Thank you for the response. What is your Brannock size? I have also been told that the SD last and the IRs fit the same. I wear a 9D in the IRs and my Brannock size is 10D.

Also curious on how you got a size of a 9.2D as I have only seen sizes go up in .5 increments.

Why not just measure your feet with the directions on whites website, and send them the measurements so you get a perfect fit?

LOL!
I'm sorry, I can't type. I meant 9.5D.
I'm not sure of my Brannock size anymore. I wear a 10 in Nikes, and a 9.5C in most Allen Edmonds shoes. In RedWing, Wesco, and White's I wear a 9.5D.

More questions.. Anybody with the White's SD on the standard last also own or have owned the Red Wing Iron Rangers or the Wolverine 1K boots? How does the sizing compare between the SDs, IRs and the 1K mile boots?

Also do the SDs run TTS?

Thank you.

A lot of people feel that the SDs run a half size large, but I have not found that to be the case. They seem about TTS to me.

I tried on several different Iron Rangers trying to get a good fit (I think they are really great looking boots) but never could get it right. They are VERY narrow and slightly long compared with all other boots I've tried. I would like to have gotten a pair of black IRs, but they only come in D width, which actually feels about like a C, and were far too narrow. I tried EE in the brown IRs, and the were actually slightly more narrow than my old Chippewa D widths.

I have never owned 1000 Mile boots, but have tried them on, and they seem about TTS.

I wear a 10 D in SD, Wolverine 1000's, and RW Gentleman Traveler. I wear 10.5 D in pretty much every other shoe I own. Not only do I size down a 1/2 for each of these, I also use a boot liner to fill some of the extra space. The RW GT is the narrowest of bunch; quite narrow actually, but that works for me.

I have really wide feet in the forefront. On the Allen Edmonds 5 last I'm a 10EEE. I wear a 10 in the IR's--they stretch. It was a pain ********** at first, but after a month they really loosened up.

This discussion is helpful--I'm a 10 in IRs and a 10 in 1Ks, and knowing I will most likely be a 10 in SD is really helpful. Thanks

Thank you.. Does that mean you would have to size down a little further in the RW GTs and the 1000 mile boots if you did not wear a boot liner? What is your size on the Brannock?

No, I don't think I could go down to 9.5. The boot liner takes up more width and volume, but I seem to need the length of the size 10. My heel is slightly narrow. Actually, the RW GT has a boot liner primarily for padding as it is pretty narrow. I'm saying boot liner, but I'm just talking about those Dr. Scholl insole pads.

Grayland, glad those SDs worked out for you ;)

Fwiw- I agree to size down a 1/2 on this last, and perhaps (just perhaps) size out in the width too...

Size out in width meaning go up a width?

Correct. BUT, that may not always be the case. I'm pretty much a 10D as a "true size". Got a pair of SDs (bunch of stuff pages back) in a 10D and found them to be wayyyy too big. After some lengthy debate about what size to get I went with a 9.5E. I ended up needing to add an thin insole as filler, but thats pretty standard and the fit is practically perfect. so if you dont want break in the wider boot will do it for you; standard width may require a lot more break in.

My advice would be to talk to Baker's or Whites and go with their advice.

My sizes are way different from RW to White's. My Bounty Hunters on the SD last are 8.5C, fitted by Kyle based on my tracings. Red Wings GT and IR I wear (wore) 8EE. The fits between the lasts are incredibly different. SD definitely run wide in my experience, and Red Wings are notoriously narrow.

It has been reiterated dozens of times in this long thread, just send the tracings to Baker's and get fitted by Kyle. Even from the East coast it takes like 4 days via snail mail and he will email you back so you can order.

Those are badass!!! What are the differences between otter and cxl? The look similar...

Yes, I'd be interested to hear how the two leathers compare in the flesh. I've always loved the natural edge of black CXL, and it works to very good effect here with the upper. Overall, real beauties.

In other news, my black Horsehide SDs (ordered January 31st) should be waiting for me tonight when I get home from work! Will report back...
