Water Buffalo is thiner, smoother, lighter. Chrome Excel is dryer on the inside and does not age in a nice patina is my view...

with my whites afer breakign them in usually you will roll when you walk not reallly takign your foot off the floor. thats how you walk with heavy boots.

so i suggest going cuban heel .. raising the heel is not bad either . and yes double midsole so not to "feel" the ground.

stay away from vibram 269. if you can go full sole i suggest 430.

700 or 705 is just soso.. always resole with quabaug heel from personnal experience they give a better cushion that vibram heel or goodyear heel

cats paws are the worse sole + heel combo bad! but they look awesome!

On the topic of Water Buffalo, anyone know how to take care of this leather? Also what products to use?

for water buffalo actually you dont to do anything. its dry tanned maybe some conditioner once a year a little brush with horsehair brush everyweek thats it.

Many thanks, my best to date. Yes the black cherry is in the tope cap, and upper part. It`s very hard to tell differently from the dark brown, and was expecting some burgundy tones, but its a shade of red brown...

^^ Those are great looking boots, but I can't figure out why anyone would get a block heel on a pair of White's. My opinion still hasn't changed in the few years the option has become available. I have walked around in a lightly broken in pair with the block heel, and absolutely could tell the difference between them and my other White's with standard heels. It was not a good difference. I wonder if the folks at White's just shake their heads when an order for a boot with block heels comes through. It just seems to defeat the purpose of the last. Obviously, to each his own. You sir are the perfect person to give us a true, lived comparison.
